Paul Gaugin - Porthole vs Window

I am curious if anyone has sailed on the Paul Gaugin i na Porthole stateroom.

Currently we have room 324 on Deck 3. We have one concern since there are not very many staterooms on that deck..what else is on that deck?

Is it noisy from employees or is it empty.

I will ask PG, but am curious to hear others experiences.

It will be $400.00 more total for two of us to go up to the window deck.

Or do you think we will be fine on Deck three.

(the balcony would be $2000.00 more which we cannot do).

We have enjoyed the window cabins on deck 4 on three trips, and they were great. I`ve also heard that the deck 3 porthole cabins are the best bargain going. Convenient to the tender exit. There are staff rooms on this deck, like entertainers and probably fairly senior staff.

I was worried would they be all up really early and noisy or not.

Hi, We stayed in the PG rooms with portholes, and found the room very nice. Never did hear any noise from the staff. There are two very large port hole windows in the room, and for the difference, I didn't see any reason to pay more to move up to the window cabins. There is not much else on this deck, just the exit for tenders to the islands, and staff rooms (which are separated from the guest rooms). Again, we didn't noice any noise from the tenders or anything else. Unless you want to splurge for a balcony, it is an excellent choice.

We were in cabin 324 on the PG last year and it was perfect for us. It is convenient to the tender area without being right next to it, in other words noise was not an issue. I would save the $400 and stick with the porthole cabin that you have got. Buy a black pearl or a few hundred vanilla beans with the money you save.

We were in F 314 on our 2003 cruise.

Found the cabin very nice.

No problem with employees as they are on the starboard side of the ship

and these are on port side.

The view out of the two portholes is not bad. Because you are so low

on the ship and will not open they are covered with left over sea water spray

and don't get cleaned very often. No big deal.

With a group of 5 couples and decided to save the money on cabins so we could

spend more on excursions. Worked great!!

Also realized that since we were with a group we probably would meet on deck or at

one of the bars more than normal. This also worked well.

Because this is a high intensity excursion cruise, it truly is difficult to spend much time

in your cabin.
