Default Key West Bar Card

Many of the people who come off a cruise ship for only a few hours in Key West miss out on the happy hours which usually start at 4:00 or 4:30. The nice thing about a happy is the 2-4-1 drinks.

I just heard tell of the Key West Bar Card which can be presented at 10 places for a free 2nd drink, 24/7. Two of them, Kahoots and Grim's Grill are not on Key West, but 6 of the last 8 are not uncommon.

http://www.keywestbarcard.com/

If you bought a 2nd manhattan or martini at the wine bar at the Pier House, the card would pay for itself and then some.

Sounds great but I went to the website and there is no conveneint place to buy it for ship passengers.
Fast Buck Freddies is the closest but it's still pretty far from the pier.

Fast Buck Freddies is at 500 Duval Street...5 blocks up Duval Street. The beginning of Duval street is maybe the equivalent of 5 blocks from the docks.

Peter,
I know where it is, but five blocks or so up, and five blocks or so back is 10 blocks or so and a chunk of time to get a comp drink or two.
Not worth the time or effort.
They should have one of the stores at the pier sell them.
I wonder if the Concierge at the Westin has them.
Otherwise, on a ship day, my farthest point up Duval is Caroline Street and the Bull.

No, the concierge at The Westin does not sell them.

You can buy it online at the website; but it is a lot of trouble just for a free drink.

You go to one of the five places listed or order online from the same website.

Default Thanks!

Thank you for posting this. 6-8 free drinks this time and I see that it's good for all of 2010. Great for those short weekend trips to the Keys!

Mike,
Perhaps it's my browser, but when I went to the website they were only selling them at a minimum of 20 for local delivery.

Whoops, I am technologically challenged.
I found the purchase page under News and Special events.
Thank you Peter and Mike.
We'll think of you both the second week in february when we have our cmp drinks at the Bull and Hog's Breath! :-)

No problem.

I talked to my friend who is the head concierge at the Westin and she said they are supposed to have them in the next few days.

Default Update???

Is there an update on this thread? Is the Westin the best place to buy the card if you wait until you are in Key West? Or, should I go ahead and order ours online. We don't mind walking to Fastbuck Freddie's, however, we are on a tight schedule. (cruise ship will be there 7am to 3pm). We leave in 2 weeks - we need to figure it out ASAP. Thanks for your help!!!

Order online, it's quick.
They also have some cool KWBC T-Shirts.

Did you have any problems using the Bar card? I've read some negative feedback online that's making me hesitant to order the card in advance. Any pros or cons? Would you buy it again?

No problems at all.
On the contrary, some folks try to scam the bars by passing it along to their friends and attempting to use it multiple times.
That is why they now ask for id if the bar is busy to prevent the scammers,

Most of the complainers I saw online had tried something like that!!! The rules are clearly outlined on the website! LOL! If you live or frequent Key West, I think it's an awesome deal. Especially if your favorite bar happened to be participating.

On the plus side, $1 off of each card goes to charity. KWBC has a facebook page and they had pics of them giving money to a local charity this summer.

Grim's and In Kahoots are both in Key West, just not near downtown. In Kahoots is where Chile's used to be on N. Roosevelt, and Grim's is on Flagler Ave.
