Default Got our cards!

I ordered 4 cards last week and got them Saturday. It could not have been easier. I paid through Paypal, and later that day got an e-mail asking if I wanted them dropped off at a hotel or mailed. (I opted to have them mailed because I am sending our friends theirs in their christmas card). Now, I just can't wait to get down there and put them to good use!

Yes, but it is right next to one of the Trolley stops.

Yep, it is a GREAT program.
I'm headed down Thursday for the Powerboat races and plan to give my card a workout.

You could sit at the beach-side bar at the Pier House with your BarCard and watch as the boats, helicopters, et.al. wing by.

Is Pier House a good place to watch the lighted boat parade in December?

That's great spot. We crashed the party there 15 years ago or so the first time we were down there for the races.
Now we have seats at the start finish line in Truman Annex.
Anybody know how to get a parking pass in Truman Annex? They are like gold.

Bar Cards are NOT honored during holidays or special events - ie, they were not honored Wed-Sat of Fantasy Fest week, nor Sat of Parrotheads. Each bar can decide if a day is a holiday or not.

This is a short description of the lighted boat parade...

Key West Lighted Boat Parade - This is one of the most popular Key West Christmas traditions because it blends traditional holiday lights with Key West flavor and charm. Boats get all dressed up with lights and fanfare and cruise down the harbor in front of Key West at night making a spectacular holiday light parade. Historic Seaport of Key West is the place to be to see the parading boats, and Schooner Wharf Bar is the hotspot for just about everything that night, since they sponsor the parade. It's free, and it starts at 8pm Saturday, mid-December, usually the second Saturday in December."

A better spot to see it would be the pier which runs in front of the Galleon Hotel which has a nice tiki bar. If you walk to the end of Front Street and make a left, you are at the Galleon.

I'll be in KW by myself and thought that I'd just walk around and stop at some of these bars. Can anyone direct me on which bars are close by each other. I'll probably be off of the ship by 9, but will need to embark again by 1:30.

Thanks

You just need to find Duval Street (2 blocks from the Pier) and start walking down Duval.
You'll find Hog's Breath, Sloppy Joe's, Irish Kevin's, The Bull, and more.

These cards have mixed results. I can tell you as a local, that most bartenders do not like them unless they are used by regulars who will tip as if the drinks were full price. Many tourists do not do this, but you should. You can also only get one 2 for 1 drink each day in each bar, so for someone who is coming in for the day on a cruise ship, I can not imagine making my day in Key West all about running from place to place just to get a few free drinks. If you will be a regular visitor to Key West, they are a good deal. Just tip the bartenders on the free drink please.

FWIW using the Bar Card one time will, in general, pay for it. Every time after that is a saving.

I am not sure where you drink, but since the cards are $20.00 I do not see how using it once pays for itself. As I said, I think it is a good deal for frequent visitors who want to frequent these bars, but for a one day stop on a Cruise Ship.... Not so much...

Two glasses of red at the Rooftop Cafe would be $20.00 without the BarCard.

King Estate "Acrobat" Pinot Noir Oregon "08 $10.00

Two Martinis or manhattens at the Pier House would be even more.

Not to beat a dead horse, but you would save $10 with either of your examples. Therefore, you would need to visit twice to break even, or go to 2 places and order $10 plus drinks in the same day... It is a good value, I just think there are more things for a one day visitor in Key West to enjoy then running around trying to save a few bucks on drinks.
