I did a Nile cruise in 85 and at that time the big cruise firms in Upper Egypt were hotel chains like the Hilton, Sheraton and Marriott. All were good.
Sorry, can't help on Viking.
A Nile cruise will wow you, especially if you are a history buff. I suggest reading up on Egyptian history before you go.

then look at itinerary, price,rooms,etc...much to consider....we did a Gate 1 that used a Uniworld,if I remember ,,ship....very nice....check out hotel being used,etc..much to review....have taken Viking in past,,very good,,,not Oberai,,just going there is wonderful,,really a choice of above and reviews to determine which is best for you.....if you can, go for one with french balcony,,,nice views and fresh air....you ll love it ....
