FOD last I knew stood for Friends of Dorothy - as in Judy Garland (or so one theory has it) and is used by the many gay members on CC for meeting up with other gay members (as in any FOD on such and such cruise, or FOD meeting in the Lido...). Or so my 2x a year cruising friend who is also a FOD has told me.

pax=passengers in both cruise and airline terms they also use the term Souls.

As in Eurodam has 2,104 souls on board. I am not sure if they would add the term soul to the crew.

Usually "souls on board" means passengers plus crew, so the E'dam would have 2,904 s.o.b. on a ship full at double occupancy.
