A MILLION thanks for this.

I know what FOB really means (being one myself), but never heard of FOD. Will have to do research.

Thanks again so much for posting this. You're an angel!

From HAL's web site:

As You Wish ™ dining

As You Wish dining allows guests to choose from the best of both worlds - either traditional pre-set seating and dining times, or a completely flexible dining schedule at a number of different venues.

Main Dining Room: Holland America Lines' Main Dining Rooms offer deluxe dining at its best. The generous menu offers regional favorites, vegetarian options and Greenhouse Spa cuisine. The Daily Alternatives menu category allows guests to choose a simple presentation of fresh fish, chicken or a sirloin steak no matter what else is listed on the menu that evening.

One level of the two-tiered restaurant will offer a flexible/open dining service from 5:15 to 9 p.m. daily, and the other will host two seatings, an early and main seating. Guests with flexible seating may make reservations daily during a cruise up to 4 p.m. or simply walk up anytime during dining hours.

FOD last I knew stood for Friends of Dorothy - as in Judy Garland (or so one theory has it) and is used by the many gay members on CC for meeting up with other gay members (as in any FOD on such and such cruise, or FOD meeting in the Lido...). Or so my 2x a year cruising friend who is also a FOD has told me.

pax=passengers in both cruise and airline terms they also use the term Souls.

As in Eurodam has 2,104 souls on board. I am not sure if they would add the term soul to the crew.

Teddy Bearer
Fat or Over weight Gay man with a Beard, or Hairly Chest

I was on a cruise with 300 TB's
What a hoot, I am a striaght (likes ladies) man with a beard, used to be slightly weight.

All the regular Mariners could not figure out what was going on, only down side was the cubs were clubbers and changed the dance music in the disco, and they had 900 reservations at the Pinicale Grill

Funnist line in the elevator, My Mom asked a Large single man "where is your teddy Bear"

He sighed, "he found a bigger bear, Now I am a little lost cub"

Usually "souls on board" means passengers plus crew, so the E'dam would have 2,904 s.o.b. on a ship full at double occupancy.
