Default Egg Nog Recipes

Does anyone have a great egg nog recipe. The best egg nog I have ever had was on RCI on a X'mas cruise.

My go to egg nog recipe is great, but it makes way too much. Thanks & Happy Holidays!

Default Best egg nog

Try this:
10 eggs separated
1-1/2 cup powdered sugar
1-1/3 pint of milk
1-1/3 pint of cream
3/4 bottle bourbon
nutmeg

Separate eggs - Whip yolks till light in color
........................keep beating and add:
........................sugar gradually
........................bourbon little by little
........................add the milk and 1/2 the cream
................................CHILL............. ................

Beat egg whites till stiff and fold into eggnog
Beat remaining cream and fold into the mixture

CHILL until serving time. Pour in punch bowl or individual glasses, sprinkle with nutmeg.

To half this receipe use the following ingredients and prepare as above:
5 eggs, 3/4 cup powdered sugar, 2/3 pt of milk, 2/3 pt of cream, 3/8 (or 1/3 for easy measuring) bottle bourbon.

Enjoy! and Merry Christmas.

We have a dairy here in GA, named after the 5th month and the name of a place out in the Left----- where baseball players catch balls. Their milk containers are Yellow and the egg nog containers are Red.

They have the best egg nog mix. I'm going to have to try JJPacer's recipe using that product!!

IMO the best Egg Nog is at the German Christmas markets where they lace it with Brandy and smoother it with cream on top. It's potent but delicious.

Here, I use Advocaat and brandy to try to replicate this. Failing that shop bought organic with a shot of something to burn on the way down

Mayfield. I love their products. Lived in GA for 6 years. Harder to find their products here. Kroger doesn't carry it. Wal Mart carries their ice cream.

I just buy the prepared egg nog -- then we had brandy to it -- about 1 1/2 ounces or 2 ounces per 6 or 8 ounces of egg nog. Depends on how strong you like it. We like it with a little kick.

We used to put whipped cream on top but stopped doing that -- had to cut back on the calories somewhere.

I don't care for egg nog, but love peppermint hot chocolate.

There have been warnings against consuming raw or lightly cooked eggs on the grounds that the egg may be contaminated with Salmonella, a bacteria responsible for a type of food poisoning. The risk is greater for those who are pregnant, elderly or very young and those with medical problems which have impaired their immune systems. However, it is possible to buy Pasteurized eggs, which eliminates the problem; go to http://www.safeeggs.com/store-locato...it=Find+Stores!
