Default Cove Balcony Partitions

Do the partitions on the cove balconies open to allow families/friends that are side by side to enjoy a bigger balcony as with regular ones?

Our room steward was happy to open our cove balcony partition between our 2 cabins 2380 and 2382 when we sailed the week of December 11th 2010.
