Unfortunately, I was waiting for the first story like this coming from this cruise.
Thats why these gay cruises are kind of an embarassment. I am gay and have seen first hand (when I was on one of these cruises) how badly some gay men act when they're "cushioned" by the fact that they're in a large group of "their own". Having fun is one thing, but C'Mon with the drugs and sex right out in the open ... really tacky and it makes the rest of us look like out of control idiots. I know these cruise are huge money makers. And gay people love to spend the $$$ and do tip well. But I wish "mah people" knew how to act better sometimes ! |

Been on 4 gay cruises.
Have NEVER seen anyone doing drugs or having sex in public. I know people have been removed on previous gay trips I've been on, and I know people have been removed on previous other cruises I've been on as well. Frankly, the worst behavior I've ever witnesses was on a Carnival trip that happened to have about 600 straight South Beach partiers on board.... The pool had to be shut down due to topless women running around... Just goes to show that partying is not mutually exclusive to one group or another...

Honestly, this is typical of an Atlantis charter and I'm surprised its taken this long to come to light.

Hey guys, just got home from this cruise and have done four other Atlantis cruises. First of all, there is NO PUBLIC SEX allowed and this is announced repeatedly. Second, while there are some of the guys who are obviously on something, it is not like this drug dealer set up shop in Central Park and was dealing on the street corner. With 5490 gay men on a cruise ship you are going to have every element of society represented including those that use drugs. You also have many attendees of the "Bill W." meetings who are ex-drug and alcohol addicts. Sure this is bad publicity for Atlantis, but it sure was one hell of a cruise and one fantastic good time. The fact that someone was caught dealing drugs just proves that both Royal Caribbean and Atlantis were monitoring the situation and took swift action. Rumor was that 21 passengers were disembarked in St. Thomas and St. Marten from this operation. We know for sure that at least five perople were caught and dealt with as Capt. Johnny made a very serious announcement on Tuesday during the afternoon Tdance to say that four passengers and one crew member were removed from the ship in St. Thomas and that ship security and the authorities were continuing to investigate and drug use would not be tolerated. His message was the GHB was found though don't know if this was reported out or not. Also the fact that a crew member was involved indicates that it is not something limited to an Atlantis charter. In the end, your negative comments about gay cruises are just your narrow opinion and I'm sure we'll continue to have you come out of the woodwork to bash what is the most incredible vacation available to out gay people.

While I am not shicked to hear that someone was arested for selling onboard. What needs to come to light is the number of drug overdoses that result in treatment and or death. Atlantis' last Novembers Mexican Riviera sailing comes to mind. 2 deaths due to OD's and no mention? Hmmmm.

And my main objection is to the guys who do break the rules by bringing, selling and doing party drugs on board. And the ones who have to be "repeatedly" reminded (as you put it) via announcements that public nudity and sex are not permitted. The ones who don't know how to act. They are in the minority, I am fully aware. AND .. before you accuse me of being a prude, I'm a former bartender at a very famous NYC leather bar - so trust me .. I've see it all. There were no drug sniffing dogs in FLL when we boarded. Had there been perhaps the drug dealer would have been caught before boarding. You can't blame RCI or Atlantis for the actions of the CBP/Port Everglades. I was on the Mexican Riviera Cruise last November and there was no mention of any deaths on that ship. Can you cite an official source? ![]() Anyway-it was an amazing week on a beautiful ship that sadly only could provide mediocre service. To me-that's the big news of the Allure sailing last week-which I'm sure will be posted elsewhere.

![]() Repeatedly announced? Really? Was a hearing impaired group involved ![]() It's sad when just a few people give a whole group a 'black eye'

Wouldn't be hard to smuggle drugs of that quantity onto a ship but trying to tote that amount of cash around might become a problem... surprised the room steward didn't get suspicious?
