Default Explorer of the Seas Refurb ?

We love sailing out of Bayonne on the Explorer, however it is definitely showing wear and tear. Does anyone know when it will be refurbished? Would love to book another cruise on it but would like to do it after a refurb.

If it happens, it will probably be AFTER it leaves Bayonne next year...

She just had a drydock a year ago. She is "scheduled" for her next one in 3 years.

That's pretty sad if she is looking bad and just a year out of drydock.

That is why we try to sail on newer ships now, however the Majesty was in pristine condition last year when we were on her and she was 18 years old at the time!

The Explorer has one of the toughest jobs, all winter long sailing out of frigid air and water into the Caribbean and the warm water and back...

The wood and the paint just can't stay pristine under those conditions.

I hadn't thought about it that way. Interesting point.

i was on the explorer last summer, and boy does in need work. rust on the balconies, paint peeling, furniture all worn out. I won't go back on explorer cause of that. The windjammer is also outdated too. I would sail on mariner on navigator. Im sorry but 3 years is way too long for the explorer. i GUESS that means explorer is stuck with those old tube tv's for 3 more years.

If its that bad on her...

A) why do they keep her up there year round
and B) why don't they give her more regular drydocks
