Default Palma Info Please

Hi All

On our Epic NCL cruise in the Summer we are stopping at Palma.

Does anyone know which port it is? We are fit and agile, can we walk to Palma, or catch a cab, how much would a cab be.

Any advice appreciated.

Once in Palma, what would be the main sites and how far from each other etc.

Many thanks

Ships moor at the far end of the harbour, about a mile from the cathedral.
Shuttle buses go along the front and park below the cathedral.
It's a pleasant walk into the city; either along the harbour with its fabulous yachts, or on the shops/hotel side.
The cathedral is a gem- worth visiting.
Straight up from the shuttle buses is the main square. It's more expensive to eat outside in the square than inside.
Tip- buy a cheap coffee at MacDonald's in the square, and use their loos.
Shops range from top brand names to cheap gift shops. Middle range department stores e.g. C&A.
Look out for the enclosed balconies on the older houses, where the women used to sit, out of sight.
Do not buy from some ethnic minority families who may offer a rose/carnation whilst looking through your pockets.
If you want beaches, ask the taxi driver, or go left to illetas, below the King's residence, or the other way to Palma Nove.
The castle is almost opposite the ship- a climb up the streets.
Jo.
