Default Possibility for Antiqua

I was doing a bit of research and found this particular "thing to do" in Antiqua came highly recommended.

Something to keep in mind!

Oh, Karen, do they offer free casts with every segway? I can just see me falling off & breaking something! Sure would be fun tho!

LOL...no casts included! It did look like fun. I'm not sure we'll be doing this, but thought I would post anyway.

Kenneth, Kenny & I took a Segway tour in San Francisco a few years ago. We had a blast! I was worried, because I have a bad back. If I had crashed, our Alaska cruise vacation could have been spent in the hospital. Fortunately, Kenneth was the only klutz that ran into stuff. haha We had more fun laughing at him than riding. It really was a great experience though. If you've never ridden one, you definitely need to give it a try.

The beaches of Antigua are really beautiful. Antigua would be a beach day for us.

I love to Segway have done it a couple of times including an "extreme tour" in LA, they seem to be offered in a few of our ports this cruise. I'll have to see which one has the biggest bang for the buck. I really prefer the 2nd generation models over the earlier versions since they are even easier to control.
That being said eli's tour has always been in my top 5 favorite excisions. I'd recommend the Eco tour to anyone who might be considering it.

My brother-in-law and nephew did one of these in Bermuda and said it was their favorite thing they did on their cruise! I don't know if I'm up for it, but they said it was a blast!

Hi Guys

I don't know about the Segway idea. The inventor of the Segway was killed in a accident on one of his machines................

Oh my goodness, we can say that about a lot of things..cars, planes, trains, walking along City streets.....people are killed, but we don't stop doing or using those things. Maybe the inventor wasn't paying attention to what he was doing or where he was goingLOL! Oh well, I'm game to try anything once. Can't be any worse than riding motor bikes in Bermuda. I did that and survived.

The guy that died on the segway was the owner of the company, not the inventor. He had bought the company less than a year before he died. But, we can't live in fear of things that might hurt or kill us or we won't really be living. I'm sure we're much more likely to die in a car accident than a segway accident...just sayin'!

Hi Karen & Laura

I feel a lot safer knowing that it was the Segway company owner, not the inventor, who was killed.

If I remember correctly, he went over a cliff. So, the rule will be: "Never rent a Segway at the Grand Canyon".

John

Went in January and I think that the Valley Church Beach is one of the most beautiful there! Cab fare to and from the beach is $6 pp each way, in a taxi van of minimum 8. (If there were only 2 people going it was $32!!!!) Beach chairs were $5 pp. Umbrellas were available but not needed as there are a lot of shade trees. There was a small beach bar and restaurant. Restrooms were available.

Saw this on FB and copied it over here to share/remember!

Posted by Richard Dziak:
"On St. Johns Antigua head south to Darkwood Beach. It's 17 miles south of the port. It's a hidden gem with beautiful blue waters, great beach, bar and food available. Just there last month. Beaches to the north of the port are loaded to tourists. Enjoy ..Darkwood is awesome, and quiet. beautiful sand."

Fran, can you supply more info for this excursion? Price, name of beach, what time, etc. Thanks, Ted.
