Default NCL / Harrahs

Has anyone else noticed that on NCL's website that Total Rewards is no longer listed under partners and on Caesars website NCL is not listed.

That's very interesting.. It was there just a few days ago with a modification to discounts based on cabin types... I still have the link on my Harrah's TR site, but the preferred partner on NCL is gone from where it was..

yup, just missing from NCL.com. I suspect they are hiding it a bit more as people were using it and not playing like they expected. Either that or they are making more modifications to the page (although this usually doesn't involve them removing the link altogether).

If someone books through Harrah's and CAS, and then their play isn't up to expectations, they simply don't get as good an offer (or any offer) next time they try to book. No reason for NCL to hide their casino discount program, particularly since it's only extended to those who have "proved" their eligibility through play at Harrah's or on previous NCL cruises.

No...it works differently for Total Rewards card holders. You only have to hold a Total Rewards gold card to get a 5% discount from NCL, and there is absolutely no gambling requirement to either get the card or get a discount from NCL for having it. Everyone who goes to a Caesars/Harrahs group casino gets a gold card just for walking in the door and signing up...you don't have to gamble a dime. With Casinos at Sea you don't get a discount unless you have a proven gambling history.

Not necessarily true. There have been threads here recently with people who have booked a second or third discounted TR cruise where they have stated that they either never gambled or gambled very little on their cruises - there was even one person who asked if they could just use the drink card to pick up free drinks on their way to a show as they didn't plan to gamble at all. There seems to be no limit to number of discounted cruises a TR card holder can take without any play being taken into account. It takes absolutely NO history to obtain a Harrah's gold card and get a 5% discount and the free drink card - in fact there have been people asking about getting a TR card just to get the discount and free drink card. Heck, my daughter had a Gold card two days after she turned 21 and has no history with them to this day. Not saying anything about people who put in their time and money, just saying that sometimes when something is offered, people find ways to take advantage of it. It seems unfair when people who drop $1000 in an NCL casino can't get a discount and anyone who walks into another casino can. Doesn't really affect me yet, but if they cut my CAS benefits because people take advantage, I would be upset - like when they started charging for casino cash advances on the SKY because people took advantage of it as a free ATM for getting cash for everything else or to get credit card points.

Their are 2 types of discounts with CAS one is the % off using your Total Rewards cards from Harrahs ( in our case hubby is diamond and we received a 20% discount. CAS is based on your play on the most recent past cruise it does not give you average play per cruise. We played "light" on the previous cruise and therefore CAS did not have as good a discount as we could get using TR. The one benefit
is their is no expected play out of us this trip however certainly we would not use the drink card for a drink unless we were playing. We do get offers for "free" cruises from CAS however they are usually not on 9 day trips and you need to be flexible with your dates some we have taken advantage of and others we have had to sigh and say no. We can't always gamble enough to get "free" offers bit still manage to give our share to more than make up for any discount we received

Recently Harrah's changed its corporate name to Caeser's Entertainment because it is more world wide known. Some of their websites and paper work also changed. Perhaps that had something to do with the confusion.

Points taken, particularly with reference to TR gold card holders. I agree, if they start to cut benefits & perks because too many non-players are finding ways to take advantage, then we'd be upset too.

When i went to the Total Rewards site that you mentioned, at the bottom of the page in fine print it states there is an $11 per day per person fuel charge. Has anyone else noticed this. I just booked a cruise two days ago and the agent didn't mention this.

I just booked a cruise through CAS yesterday and no one mentioned the surcharge...but they have the right to impose it whenever they want after fuel gets above a certain price.

So free inside cabin from CAS and free cruise from Harrah's in New Orleans, two in a week, doesn;t get better than that.....

It's wrong. There is no fuel surcharge at this time. I've answered your question on the separate thread you started.

Worth looking into, not worth worrying about since that TR page has been inactive for over a month.

The page the poster is talking about is on the Total rewards site, not the NCL site, and it's definitely still there. As I already explained, the information on the fuel surcharge is incorrect and I referred the poster to the correct information on NCL's site in the lengthier reply I gave on a separate thread the poster had started.

I'm quite well aware of the site they were referring to njhorseman and I didn't say it wasn't there I said it was inactive, but thank you for trying to correct me . Try clicking on the "learn more" under staterooms on TR's site and you should come to a page that says "sorry, this page no longer exists". Thats what I was referring to. Which is why I was advising to not take to much worry about the information on that particular page. Weird I was agreeing with what you wrote after me with different words and yet you sound like you are debating with me.
