We get a huge kick out of watching him on some of the Nat Geo programs. Quite a character.

used carpet salesman would be closer to the point!

Interestingly he is not popular with the professionals digging in Egypt. He always appears and takes over any dig that will have any publicity attached to it. On a good side however he has increased the visiblity of the country and he is fighting very hard to have stolen antiquities returned to where they belong.

Does Islam have any problems with archeology in general?

I know about the horrible destruction of the statues in Afganistan, but destruction of graven images isn't just an Islamic thing.

I mean are the concerned about archeology disproving the fact that the world is more than 6000 years old?
