All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture and cars would be free of hair
When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel
When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door without wading through fuzzy bodies who got there before me
I could sit on the couch and bed the way I wanted without taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable.
I would have money and no guilt to go on a real vacation.
I would not be on a first-name basis with 6 veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grandkids through college.
The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay and leave it ALONE.
My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers.
I would not talk 'baby talk'. 'Eat your din din'. 'Yummy yummy for the tummy'...
My house would not look like a day care center, toys everywhere.
My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an extra leash.
I would no longer have to spell the words B-A-L-L, W-A-L-K, T-R-E-A-T, O-U-T, G-O, R-I-D-E, C-O-O-K-I-E.
I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.
I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much
I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading 'mud' season.
I would not have to answer the question 'Why do you have so many animals?' from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an ANGEL as they will ever get.

How EMPTY my life would be!!! — Happy New Year..........

g
That's good! Many times I've thought how nice it would be not to have the "kids" to worry about, we could come and go more freely, take more trips, etc. But our lives would definitely be empty without them, they are our children. Afraid we may soon lose Buddy, our eldest dog, only time will tell. (Of course, we said that about him last year, and perhaps even the year before that as well! He's like the Energizer bunny, he gets down but then gets back up and just keeps going and going! LOL) He's around 18 years old in people years, so in dog years he's quite the old man! LOL

Any special plans for New Years? No plans here. Not sure what Rick might do, but I decided a few years ago that I wasn't going "out" for New Years eve any more, I got tired of always being the designated driver! LOL (Know whut I mean, Vern?! LOL)

Any special New Years resolutions, that you care to share? I've decided my one and only resolution is to start smoking again. I don't usually make resolutions because I can never keep them, so I have no faith that it will happen. Oh, well.

We'll be home with Drysdale.............actually we have stayed home the past couple of years...............I enjoy listening to the gun fire at mid-night. Reminds me of being on manuevours................l.

For years and years we went downtown Indy to my club and celebrated - had a great time with great people but over the years it too became like "Groundhog's Day" - the same thing year after year - we are ready for something new - not sure what we'll do when we can start traveling out and about again - now that's exciting - not knowing - not programmed - I look forward to it......we both yearn for the "open-road"!

Resolutions ? Nah - What fer..........? Hahahahaha

Happy New Year everyone - I wish all my cruises families the best for 2012 - and if our paths do not cross in 2012 - please know you have a special place in the Nulty Family hearts............

That's a resolution I have never heard before, TerrY.

We are going to the New Year's event at the Eagle's club. Drinks are cheap and there will be live music and a meal, too. We brought home one of the golf carts from work and will be taking it, on the sidewalks, there and back, as neither of us would be a very good DD, lol. Hopefully there are no laws against drunk golf cart riding on sidewalks. It's 2-3 miles and will be in the 40's on the way home, but hopefully by then we'll be feeling no pain.

No resolutions for me. Except for maybe one X-rated one I can't post here.

Sunday, we may get out the Harleys. Although it's still cold at night the daytime forecast for the weekend is calling for above normal temps in the mid-70's.

This will be a repeat for those on the Freedom, 10/21/12, thread.

Think about it … If my one and only resolution (which I have no intention of keeping) is to START smoking again - that means what? I had to have QUIT smoking, right?

Well, this weekend makes 4 weeks since I have had a cigarette!!!! I wasn't sure I could do it, but so far so good. I just decided it was time for me to stop, picked my "quit date", prepared myself mentally, really put my mind to it, bought some patches (it's okay to wear 3 or 4 patches at a time, right?!) and stopped when the date arrived. That was nearly 4 weeks ago.

There have been a few times where I've said to myself, "Just one ... I'll have just one cigarette to get me through this this craving, and then I'll really be done." But I have NOT given in to the urge for "just one", 'cause I know it would be like the 'tater chips commercial, can't have just one! LOL

Rick has not decided to quit. I can't (and won't) pressure him into it - it's a personal choice and decision that only he can make for himself, just as I did for myself.

However ... with that said ... it has been almost 2 weeks since Rick started wearing a patch and he hasn't had a cigarette since! But, if I mention something about us both quitting he is very quick to remind me that he has not decided to quit yet.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Great story Glenn...I can relate!

Congrats on the "quitting" smoking thing,Terry (and Rick ). I haven't even thought of a resolution for this year...it's usually that I will lose X number of pounds, but I already did that, LOL...and I only gained 2 lbs during the Holidays, so that shouldn't be too hard to get rid of....I hope!

We are just staying in, and vegging out for New Year's Eve....we'll probably both fall asleep in our chairs before midnight, LOL. I work all day tomorrow, so I am sure it won't be a problem for me to fall asleep early.

Happy New Year Everyone!

No plans for New Year's eve. Will more than likely stay home and watch telly, as usual. Of course, I'll let the new year in as always.

Resolutions? Nah, I never make them. I do make some plans, however, which is almost the same thing.

Some plans revolve around the new business, but they're probably a bit boring for this thread.

Some plans involve doing some things on my bucket list, like learning the guitar and blues harmonica properly.

I do have one SECRET BIG thing from my bucket list that I hope to achieve during 2012 and things are in motion to bring it off. More on that if/when it happens.

All the very best to everyone for 2012!!

TerrY -

As an FYI - when you copy a story from one thread to another it's called:

Cyndicated.

We heard about that! Crazy! I remember growing up we had a pretty good quake in the south-central Illinois area, along the New Madrid fault line, it was frightening!

Rick has his work cut out for him today, supposed to get down into the mid 20s here the next couple nights, so he has to make sure everything gets put in the greenhouse.

Default Whew.............

What a game!

Although I'm from the Indy area, I had the Pats in my Fantasy League - they needed to win - they did - although Baltimore gave it to them with the bad kick to tie it up -

Oh well, I guess any landing is a good landing!

It was a painful ending, but I thought it was a damn good game. Both of Sunday's games were good ones to watch, but in each of those games, only one team could win.... and this time it wasn't my team

Are you raedy for some football?????

Those are sweet words to me in August! I am!

Are you looking forward to the Superbowl?

Anyone heading to Indy for the Big Game?

Well.................I am sooooo tired of the Superbowl - and it's a week away.

I have been hearing about Superbowl XLVI for about 2 years now. I even had to buy a new stadium for the event. Yup - you heard that right. Even though we do not live in Indianapolis, we pay an extra 2% on food and beverages in the county I live in to pay for Lucas Oil Stadium - we are the next county to the west of Indy.

Thank goodness I no longer work Downtown Indy - many of the main streets are closed and now ready for all the tourists to walk around and not have to worry about getting run over by us crazy Hoosier drivers (keep in mind - I learned to drive in Brooklyn, NY - outa my way - stranger!!!!)

Maybe too bad I am not Downtown working any more - many businesses are closed starting next Wednesday through the Monday after the Big Game! But wait - I worked for Uncle Sam - fahgedaboudit-!

The local news shows never stop talking about road closures, re-routes, what celebs will be here, the NFL Experience, counterfeit tickets, New Yawkers (?), weather, Brady playing in Manning's house (who cares?), how will people like Indianapoilis, yada, yada, yada, yada.............(They never talk about the Pats fans - why? They are as obnoxious as any fan, as some of use have met some on the way home from a cruise wearing Colts jerseys - they verbally accosted Colts fans - "Hey yo - it's only a game!!!"

So - rest assured when you watch the Big Game on your Big Screen, I will be snug as a bug about 20 miles northwest from the Big Game watching the Big Game on my Big Screen..................enjoy!

Go Colts..........!

Know what you mean, g! When Jax hosted superbowl a few years ago (I think it was #39? Hell, I don't keep track! LOL) that's all this city talked about for 2 years before and another year after. Weekend of the big game we made sure we had everything we needed here at home well in advance so we didn't have to get out at all. What a mess traffic was! But, I guess it brought in some good revenue for the city, I just didn't see any of it! LOL

A very famous football(I mean real football, not that 'rugby for girls' that you guys play with helmets and space suits on) coach once said. "Football isn't a matter of life and death. It's far more serious than that!!"

Default Super Bowl Morning............

It's finally here................

It will be good to watch the game tonight but sad as there has been so much hype around here - the local news is nothing but Super Bowl activities and events, even the TODAY Show is here - and it is amazing all the BIG stars that have come here for the game. I know Indy will go through Super Bowl Withdrawal..............Indianapolis use to be called "Nap-Town" - no more!

I believe Indy has accomplished what they wanted - a great city, venue, and people for this day. We have been pumped for this for two years.

Well - I'd better get going - the game is on - yup - it's 6 in the morn but the pre-game show has just started!!!!!

LOL.

I remember the same hype when the SB was here. It was a lot of fun driving up and down Mill Ave. in Tempe and seeing all the sites that week. Too bad that next time it will be centered around the new stadium, which is about half way to California from here, lol.

Didn't even turn on the TV today. Our flight from Houston landed early, yay, but we got home around 3:30, made cocktails, and did some unpacking before having a light dinner and settling in to delete spam from our emails.

Missed y'all on Mariner but it was a great cruise! Now we're ready to sleep for about 48 hours, lol. Darn work is going to prevent that, of course. Too bad every day couldn't be Saturday like it is for cousin g!
