Yikes! Glad it didn't put you off cruising! I'm going on the Epic too, December 1. It's a great group on the roll call...expecting big fun. I hope the one you're on goes better than the last!

P.S. Sometimes when things like that happen it's a blessing in disguise.

Im going to give it a try. This is first time Im going solo. Im not one of those guys that sit in clubs and sports bars on ship. I may go into the Disco if the music is good, ill sit there and listen for awile. Once the cig smoke gets to me I will walk out. I like to roam the ship after hours at night, sit out in sun during day, I also like to spend time at the gym and saunia a few times a day on a cruise. Im mostly a people watcher. I rarely drink, mabie a couple during the whole week. Mostly the frozen drink types.
Im not the type to start a conversation, but if you came up to me to start one then i open up more. Im more of a quiet layed back type person.

I just went solo on the Maasdam and had a ball. Was thinking of booking a last-minute Titanic memorial cruise on the Journey but the prices were a little too steep, so I thought, hey, why not go to the Caribbean? So off I went.

Now I think I'll probably always go solo. I LOVED having my own cabin and I made lots of friends and had a ball renting a mini-moke and getting thoroughly lost on Barbados and getting sandblasted by jet exhaust at Maho Beach on St. Maarten. Hoping to go again next winter.

On a previous cruise, I did actually meet someone and had a shipboard romance. I certainly wasn't looking; in fact my friend and I were going to get in a hot tub and this guy was in it and I was initially annoyed that there was someone else in it. But I asked if he minded if we joined him in the Petri dish, and he laughed and said he didn't, and it turned out pretty well!

it was never going to go anywhere permanent even though we had a good time and saw each other a few times after the cruise. My advice to the OP (if she's even still reading) would be to join a roll call, go on the cruise and have a great time no matter whom you meet (or don't meet)!

Post Is anyone still posting here?

There hasn't been a post since 2008.
I am a single female 59, looking to have a great cruise, but don't want to go alone.

I like a window or balcony, and most importantly I want to have fun.

speaking of lightning, in Orlando, there is none, the winds are moderate, and I'm going to take the dog for a walk. the sky is really "wierd" outside.

Smile Cool picture

I live in Leesburg. I have been down to Windermere a lot, but only to play Bay Hill, or eat down by Sand Lake Road at the Restaurants. Nice place to live. I am moving soon to the West Coast but not until my divorce papers are final.

I was on a cruise back in 2010 on the Emerald Princess for 3 ten day cruises in a row. All three cruises all my cabin mates were traveling alone and single. All six of us.

I have lived my life as you. Figure that if you do something you enjoy you will meet people with at least one thing in common. I have made some wonderful friends and every once in a while you meet some singles. Better to live life and maybe you will find that special person. On the singles get together's on RCL there was no real singles get together. Just a night on the bar with no meet and greet.

You don't really find many solo males in that 35 to 50 age range who cruise and are looking for a wife.
While I have to agree with the general sentiment, I'd say there are a LOT more single males in the 35 to 50 range on cruises than most people think. Including me, and I've run into many others over the years.

But it's very difficult to for singles to actually meet up on most cruises. Singles meet and greets are, for the most part, sparsely attended and often unstructured. It's very hard to tell if people are single, solo, travelling with a group of friends, available, unavailable, looking or not. Doesn't make for a very good atmosphere for meeting potential Significant Others.

Add to that the geographic issues - that even when you do meet someone and hit it off on a cruise, when the cruise is over, you'll probably be separated by a great distance, and it's VERY hard to maintain a long distance relationship, and the odds of finding anything lasting go down drastically.

So I'd have to agree - cruises aren't a great place to meet potential mates, or even brief vacation hookups, although your chances of finding a hookup are a lot higher.
