Howdy gang,

My rt foot started hurting Thursday evening & I thought I was getting another case of the gout. By Friday afternoon it had gotten pretty intense so I went to see my foot doctor. After an xray I was told I had a crack in one of the bones. So here I am in my booty, LOL! Pain is a non-issue now but have to wear this thing for 2 weeks!! I get to take it off when driving so this helps a bit.

At least my vacations are over for the summer.

Wow - not much activity on this thread lately! Hope all you cruisebuds are doing well.
We are getting excited about our Nov 3rd Carnival Liberty cruise. Great itinerary includes Roatan, Cozumel, Belize and Grand Cayman.

We have two other couples going with us and have many snorkel / beach breaks planned.

We just booked the NCL Epic for April 13th next year. My girlfriend is a vacation planner . Her agency had group space on the Epic and we landed a price of $1600 (includes taxes)for the two of us in a balcony with $175 sbc.
Blue Man group is part of the entertainment, so it should be a great time. Once again, two other couples are going with us.
If anyone is looking for something in April - we would love to sail with you again.

Ralph - hope you are feeling better soon.

Temps have been cool here in chicagoland, but are ramping up to the 90's again starting tomorrow. Whew!

Love to you all
Donna

Donna, love the Western Caribbean for snorkeling, so you will have a great time for sure. Last time in GC, we rented a car and drove to Rum Point to beach it and snorkel. Such a pretty place. I'd go there again.
Flipping thru the channels the other night, I caught an "Undercover Boss" episode with the CEO of NCL on the Epic. I don't normally watch this show, but, being on a cruise ship, it held my interest. One thing I really respected him for was that he was part of a crew that was responsible for installing an ice rink over a gym floor each day for people to skate in the afternoon/evening. It was back-breaking work installing the interlocking tiles and then no one came to skate. But the crew had to do it, "just because". Once he (the CEO) had to be part of it and see what a colossal waste of time and energy it was, he put a stop to it. Pretty cool.

Howdy Buds,

Ron/Donna - Looks like you two are cruisin' up a storm!!! We're already booked for Feb 25th next year so the April cruise won't work. But we do need to get this group back together.

My foot is all better!!!

Just received news that we have a new granddaughter. Born around 9:15 this morning, 5lbs, 14 oz - a (very) little girl!! Her name is Hadleigh.

Later Folks.

Ralph, congrats to you and Ann Marie on the new granddaughter! Such a pretty name, too! Glad your foot is all better. How's about you keep it that way, at least for a little while, huh?

Happy weekend, Dreamers!

CONGRATUALTIONS!!!

what a pretty name... so happy for you.

I am trying to convince Ron to take a cruise in November 2013 (early)
any takers?

Ralph? I know you are going in Feb, but by November you should be going crazy!! Ask Rick and Sybil too. If Kris and Kenny are lurking... what do you think?

Yea Becki, I saw the undercover boss too. I wish more bosses would investigate what goes on behind the scenes so that they could fix the stupid stuff!!

OK everyone - WHAT ABOUT NOVEMBER 2013? Early - not near Thanksgiving - can't do more than 8 or 9 days total.

Love ya buds

Donna, we would definitely consider Nov 2013, depending on the itinerary and the cruise line. I can tell you that no Carnival for us and I was really disappointed in our last NCL cruise. Hated their "freestyle" dining. Princess and HAL do their open seating so much better. The food in the buffet was poor but the dining room food was really pretty good, especially the fish. But, the poor staff was so overwhelmed. I do believe that NCL is trying to force people into their "for pay" dining venues. So sad. We used to really like NCL. So, would prefer Princess, HAL or Celebrity. Just my two cents.

Hi folks,
Donna, you know early November is our Anniversary time frame and early November is when we cruise. Thanksgiving doesn't work for us either, and we can't be gone for much more than 8 days. This year it is an 8 day from NYC on the Carnival Miracle. My point is, November would be a very good possibility for us. Adding to Becki's input: We're OK with about any Cruise line, but with Carnival and NCL not being favored I would opt for Celebrity or Princess. HAL has great ships but I'm usually in a Coma by the time I get off their ships. I'll keep an ear out...............

Matt, are you channeling me? I had San Juan in mind, as I love it there and we haven't been in forever. In fact, we were considering (and then passed on) a cruise for this fall that hit Grand Turk, San Juan and St Thomas. Mostly to snorkel, but a great chance to see San Juan again.

I am hearing ya Matt ! San Juan may be doable. Airfares are ridiculous though, so.. we will see. Love the Summit, was on her when she was new.

Or RCCL Jewel of the Seas Nov 2nd out of San Juan - nice itinerary as well.
Or the Caribbean Princess out of Galveston 11/9 is pretty reasonable.

Ralph - what about the No Va crew?
Deb? Oink? Freedom?

kris and Ken?

When Princess runs a sale - there is also reduced deposits and shipboard credits to consider.

I can't find fault with any of the ones mentioned so far.
Never been on RCCL, so that could be a first; only been on the Dawn, so the Caribbean Princess is a thought.
My ears are tuned. Will be checking in from time to time to see what might be happening.....

Hi Becki,
Tuned in on this one - We're pretty flexible where the first of November is concerned as we usually take one in the first two weeks of that month anyway..
We've been out of san Juan once and found to be easy as pie. Nice place to get in to a day ahead as well.......

Not sure Rick & Sybil would want to pay for a flight to SJ. The other cruises could work.

Ralph, the flights aren't always terribly priced. Get on an alert list, like from Travelocity or Expedia to track prices. Some of us have to fly regardless, as we don't live near a coast...

I notice that cruises run a bit cheaper out of San Juan as well. Might make up for some of the airfare. The other nice thing I noted is they port about everyday. More stops (if you want them - by the pool if not).
