We're spending 5 days in Venice, 4 in Florence, 5 in Rome and then taking the Mariner to Galveston. Woo hoo!
Ooh, I am jealous! Is Captain Johnny still the captain on Mariner? His noon "comments" are so funny, it is one of the few times that people actually listened to the noon updates - they would even poke their heads out of there cabins to listen!
Best pizza in Venice: Antico Forno, close to the Rialto bridge. Wish I'd gone there a second time instead of a sandwich shop recommended by Rick Steves. Where are you staying in Venice? If you haven't been there yet, one word about clothes: cotton! It was more humid than I expected (probably because there was no breeze) and cotton-poly blend was not a great idea. Of course it will be cooler then so it might not matter.
Have a wonderful time!
Kathy, congrats on the ellipitical! Keep it up and if you have extra energy, go an extra minute or two for me... Are you coming down to BG for HallowScream? I don't know if I will go, I'm a fraidy cat when it comes to haunted houses and such (but I am not afraid of clowns... yet...) but it would be fun to see how they have decked the place out for the event.
I couldn't resist and booked a WOW sale, Vision in June. I already had a NextCruise for 6/16/11 (repo from Oslo to Stockholm, stopping in Copenhagen, Warnemunde for Berlin and Visby) so added the next leg (Stockholm roundtrip with stops in Tallinn and St. Petersburg). Who knows what will happen between now and then but reservations can always be changed... my TA knows that too well! I wish the rates for Jewel were a bit more solo-friendly but it is what it is.
Have a great day, all -
