Hi everyone, I have to say HAPPY NEW YEAR!
2011 ended pretty bad for me. My mom passed away the first week in October. The next morning, Dad became ill with a UTI and was hospitalized in ICU, a few rough days (including Last Rites) but he pulled through but never 100%. Off to a rehab where he became sick (another UTI) again, back to the hospital (our ICU family) then to a different rehab. There for a few weeks and sick AGAIN - so back to the hospital. Finally well enough to be discharged so we moved him to Nashville to be closer to my sister (the oldest one). He was improving but passed away on Dec. 22 (the day after my birthday). He definitely had Broken Heart Syndrome after 64 years of marriage - we are convinced that Mom told him to not ruin my birthday but to be Home for Christmas, she was not going to spend #65 without him. It has been rough but I am hanging in there. Oh, and on top of it all, I got laid off from my job on Dec. 12 - thank you, Tampa Tribune. Oh well, at least I got to spend those last days with Dad. AND one of my dogs had to have emergency surgery while I was in TN after Dad passed. Oy vey.
Needless to say, I am looking forward to a better 2012.
John, have fun on Jewel - I will be on the four night next week. Yes, I am cruising while I am unemployed. Probably my last one for a while, I will probably have to wait 6-12 months before I get vacation when I get a new job. And I really need a break. Got a really good deal on a balcony, I may just stare at the horizon for a few days to recharge. Vince is on the same cruise, there are still a few cabins available for anyone that is interested!
