I know in the past I use to be able to rent a car at the FLL airport and drop it off at the locatoin near the port of miami with Alamo. However, I was just informed today that one way trips can not drop off there. Does anyone know of any car rental companies who have a more convienent drop off location by the port other then the airport?

I just did a one way with Alamo but it was the opposite. Picked up in Miami and dropped off at Ft. Lauderdale. It makes no sense why they won't except one way drop offs. Its a big facility.

Both Hertz and Avis have downtown Miami locations within a $10 cab ride of POM if they will not shuttle you for free. Thrifty and a couple of others offer free POM shuttles from their MIA airport location. Good luck!

The airport is not that inconvenient. It is easy to get to and only about 15-20 minutes from the port. Most of the major companies, including Alamo, have a free shuttle to the port after you drop off the car. There are no companies that return right at the port. John mentioned the Hertz and Avis locations that are pretty close. Hertz I'm told has a shuttle; Avis does not.
