Default New Years Eve with Royal Caribbean

HI
My wife and I are taking our first Holiday cruise on RCi Grandeur of the Seas, leaving on Dec 26.

Has anyone ever spent New Years Eve on a RCI ship? What do they usually do different?

Default New Years Eve

WE sailed on Serenade of the Seas 12/30/2006. We had the best captain. he parked the ship so we could see both St Thomas and St Johns and we got to see the fireworks from both islands. Quite the site. Every club had their own little party and then they had a party also on the pool deck. We loved being on the ship on New Years eve. One thing you don't have to worry about is a drunk hitting you in your car on the way home from the party. Have a great time. I will be on Celebrity Century this year but I think we will be out to sea.

Our second New Year's cruise on RCCL- balloon drop, champagne, dancing, festive and fun (and with teenagers, no worries of parties and drunken drivers)

We will also be on our first holiday cruise and only 2nd cruise ever. When you say champagne on New Year's Eve is that complimentary or only if you buy it? We will be on Vision of the Seas.

We spent New Years Eve onboard Jewel last year and loved it. And yes - not only was the champagne free - they were more than generous pouring two glasses as they made many many rounds thru the crowds lining the Centrum balconies - it was awesome! Imagine something like 9 stories of people lining all the balconies with noisemakers, champagne, hats, balloon drop, good music, etc. for the big countdown. They close the casino about a half hour before and we really had a good time ringing in the New Year. Then there was fireworks you could see as we passed Puerto Rico (I think thats where we were - now I have to check back and find out) Anyway - Enjoy!!! We sure did and would happily do a New Years Cruise again.

We sailed on Radiance two years ago for New Year's and it was so special. The decorations were wonderful. Different trees everywhere; a special section for ginger bread houses, special menu for New Year's Eve, parties etc. Can't wait for our New Year's sailing on Majesty on the 29th.

Default New Years on a Royal Caribbean Cruise Line

Hello, This is the first time that my husband and I will be celebrating New Years on the ship. Do they do anything special at midnight?

Default Carnival New Years

I will be taking a New Years cruise this year as well on the Carnival Elation. This will be my first time cruising on New Years, but I have been asking the same question as you. Carnival.com states that there will be a ship-wide party, and they will include free party favors, hats and champagne. Other cruise lines seem to do the same thing.

It should be a big party!

Enjoy your cruise!

Thumbs up New Years is lots of fun

My husband and I have been cruising on New Years for the past 15 years or so and for Christmas and New Years about the last 7.
It's the only way to go. There will be different parties in different venues and of course the traditional countdown at midnight. The cruiselines go all out for that evening. If you're in a warm destination i.e. the Caribbean a lot of times there will be activities planned by the pool. Last year we were at Cape Horn on Azamara on New Years Eve and even though it wasn't real warm there was a huge party by the pool anyway.
Regardless, you made a good decision to do this. At the end of the night, you can take your shoes off and walk to your cabin, instead of driving.

This will be our second NYE at sea. Last year we were aboard Celebrity Constellation, leaving St. Thomas and cruising south along the Windward Islands. This year we'll be aboard Voyager of the Seas (RCCL) between Roatan, Honduras and Costa Maya, Mexico.

Last year was great fun. Our wedding anniversary is NYE (19 this year) and we've pretty much decided to celebrate it at sea for the next few years.

Last New Year's we sailed on Majesty. As we were at sea and it was going to rain, the captain took the ship of the east coast of Florida on New Year's eve. We could see fireworks all up and down the coast. The ship's party was the best ever. Balloons everywhere, excellent New Year's dinner.
This year we are sailing on Solstice for New Year's so that will be a new adventure.
