Once again, great minds think alike....lol.....my basic SuperCruise warobe consist of a nice black/white outfit (theme night), my New Orleans Saints outfit (theme night), however I might change up this year to an NBA NO Hornet's outfit because the point guard for the team has the same last name as mine, and 2 pairs of slacks/knit shirts that I can mix/match

I do put together a new 60's or 70's theme night outfit every year that my cabin mate coordinates and during the day my warobe consist of shorts and jazz festival teeshirts that I have attended during the year...i'm able to travel with just one suitcase that I can carry on...it's nice not to have to bring a formal outfit

I have all the artists latest cd's downloaded on my Sony MP3 player and just bring the cd covers for them to sign....for the neo soul underground artists whose music I cannot find, I know they will bring their music to sell on the ship. Last year a few of the artists held cd release parties so we were able to obtain the cd prior to being open to sell to the public

I had a nightmare already about this cruise. I forgot to boo an excrsuion in St Lucia, no taxis could be found, so I was stuck with nothing to do. Guess I'll email a provider and let them know I want to do their tour.

No sports jerseys for me, and no jazz tee shirts, either. Well, I'll probably have one made by then. They do the same theme nights every cruise?

No they add new ones every year but the black/white, 70's night, and tailgate party are wildly popular and guests look forward to it and plan for it...since we will be cruising for 8 days we should have new theme nights...Capital Jazz conducts an email follow up survey right after the cruise and ask for suggestions for future cruises including theme nights

Lots of cruisers do private tours that they set up on their own and will invite folks that they just met on the cruise to join them....if you let it be known, I'm sure you can find a hook-up

If you have been on a cruise, but never on a full charter music cruise and especially on the Capital Jazz SuperCruise, you are in for a totally different experience...ask anyone who has been on a cruise, then goes,on a full charter music cruise, and they will tell you that a normal cruise is very, very, very boring

Ha, ha! ME, wait until I meet others on the cruise to plan my excursions??? You must be making joke (as they say in the Caribbean).

I'm going to book within the next few weeks, because many excursions have limited capacity.

Now to find something for 70s night...

If I were a betting man, I would place my $$$$$ that on 70's night we will have a 10 pm lido deck concert with George Clinton and P-Funk

Does your outfit include a diaper????? lol

Two years ago on SuperCruise 4, on our black/white theme night Teena Marie performed at 10pm on the lido deck..she was awesome..what we did not know at the time it would be her last live performance...she died a month later...for our NFL noon time tailgate party on our first day at sea Jeffrey Osborne held a "woo-woo-woo" contest between the cities..it was so funny
Last year due to the weather we held our 70's night theme party inside on deck 5...we had a Soul Train Line best 70's outfit contest (Rerun from the 70's show What's Happening won)...all of the artists partied with us and everyone had so much fun...Chante Moore was hands down the winner of having the most pics taken with (yes, I have a great pic with her, when I got home I enlarged and matted and tell my friends dhe was my date for the cruise..my cabinmate did the same thing with her pic with Eric Benet)...we also had a 70's concert where the artists channelled artists from the 70's (Eric Benet doing Marvin Gaye's What's Going On, was my favorite)
if you look st the website you will see a pic of the lido deck noon concert with Frankie Beverly and Maze...yep, that's all 3000 of us swaying to Frankie..quite an experience..,.hint, this year if you want a good spot for Chuck Brown, stake it out by 8am

I meant Eric Roberson doing Marvin Gaye...Eric is on our cruise this year again (by popular demand)...if you have never seen him or Ken Ford live, put both of them on your must see list

Ha, ha! Now I'm wondering why you would think it may include a diaper??? I can't think of a diaper/70s relationship! Oh! Now I get it! No, I wasn't born in the 70s!

I am not taking photos with any of the musicians. That's not my thing. I try to be, as, I think, Henry Louis Gates said, incognegro.

I have to work out my entrance for this outfit, and I may need some help. I've got months to work on it, so hopefully I can get it together by then.

I recently watched the French movie, "The Heartbreaker", and the star learned the dance routine in "Saturday Night Fever." Talk about chick flick fantasy! Guess I'll start looking at some 70s disco movies to get ready for this cruise.

Oh! hattack, do you have posters from any of the St Lucia Jazz Festivals? That's the biggest jazz festival in the Caribbean, and it's one of our stops. You should start laying the groundwork now so you can get posters for your collection if you don't already have them. I'll be on the Segway and at Our Planet, so I won't have time to hold your hand in St Lucia.

The St. Lucia Jazz Festival is on my bucket list...I email their website every year asking if I could purchase one but have never received a response so while you and my cabinmate are off during your thing on all 3 islands, I am on a mission in each port to find a store that sells them. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to pass on....and yes I am looking for an official Bermuda Music Festival poster from previous years. (I had breakfast on the last morning of the SuperCruise in October with a group of 8 really nice folks from Bermuda who indicated that the Festival had been discontinued by the Government due to cost), I will gladly send you an official New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Congo Square Poster in exchange..I have about 70 framed music festival/jazz cruise posters that I alternate twice a year when we have time zone changes..the Capital Jazz Festival has an official poster but as of yet, they have not produced one for their SuperCruise...I suggest it every year on the feedback survey so maybe this year........I learned how to custom frame to save lots of $$$$$$$...my signed framed jazz cruise posters with all of the artists are some of my most prized possessions

Hmmmmmmm 70's disco dances...I've never seen anyone dress up in the white leisure suit that John Travolta wore in Saturday Night Fever (wonder why?????? lol)for the 70's night party

You can learn almost any of the past and current dances in the various dance classes that are offered during the week...last year my neighbor's teenage daughters taught me how to do " The Dougie"...in return I had to bring them back a personalized signed cd from the man himself...they also have a pole dancing class (for women only)...this year there is a professional step dance troupe that will perform for us and probably conduct workshops where we can learn the dance (sorry no ballroom dancing on our cruise)....you can salsa, couples hand dance, line dance every night in the atrium...the disco is full every night with famous dj's spinning (last year we had Kid Capri among others)

Capital Jazz Productions has an internet radio station (find it on their website) where you can hear all of the artists that are on our cruise and at their festival

Ha, ha! You're using a Stateside mentality in the Caribbean and that just won't work!

Maybe if you get down on your knees, crawl, beg, and pay me an exhorbitant fee, I can probably find some for you.

Let me send word to my peeps that I'm looking for some, and see what they have to contribute. A friend of mine used to either work for the Jazz Festival or interviewed. I don't remember the entire conversation now, but I'll shoot her an e-mail and see what contacts she may have. I'll also check with the jazz musicians here to see if they can hook me up.

The key is establishing dialogue before you get in port. And once you're in port, smiling, greeting, and complimenting are worth more than the dollars you may be thinking of spending.

I want to check my photos from my last trip to St Lucia. There's a restaurant there that I thought I would patronize on my next visit, and there must have been a music or food connection that caught my eye. Now to find them, because they're not on my computer!

I think you owe me maybe 2 or 3 drinks by now! Plus 2 servings of gumbo, at least!

hattack, Bermuda isn't in the Caribbean, and I get very annoyed when people try to include it in the region. My consultancy fee for this one would be at least triple.

hattack, I talked to someone in St Lucia today. You only want a poster or are you looking for any souvenir? Does it have to be from this year? They're supposed to call me back, so hopefully I should have some lead in a few days.

Have you been to any jazz festivals in the Caribean?

I didn't even think of dressing as a character/person for 70s. I just thought of someone, though. Let me google to make sure this person was popular in that decade...

Wow!!!! any year would be great...the poster is more then enough

When Sinbad has his summer soul music festivals years back, I attended the one in Aruba..I also attended a jazz festival in San Juan sponsored by Heineken and Carnival in St. Croix.

I have attended several jazz festivals in Europe..My goal this year is to go to Switzerland and attend the Acosta Jazz Festival which features the music and artists from New Orleans..One day, God willing, I will travel to South Africa for the Capetown International Jazz Festival

Of course, my alltime favorite is Woodstock..it was the summer of 69 and I was leaving for college the next month...I was very disappointed that The Family Stone did not make it to the ship, because I had my Sly Stone outfit ready

But if they don't have posters, do you want something else instead??? Is it a poster or nothing?

Whatever your friend can find it would be great and only enhance my collection of jazz paraphernalia...photos would be great, flyers announcing jazz acts, items from a jazz club, album covers, jazz books....I would be greatful for anything and share with your friend if there is something about New Orleans jazz they would like or something you would like, I would be glad to try and locate
I've already asked my friend who is a member of Zulu, to save me a Mardi Gras Zulu Social Club parade throw (a coconut)

I haven't asked my friend yet. I called a stranger first.

Somebody started a roll call for this cruise. Seems like mostly women are going!

And the problem with that would be........lol........I've notice on these cruises, that there are alot of girfriends that pool resources and come as a group and have lots of fun ...I also notice that there are alot of daughters treating their Moms to the cruise which I think is really nice...most men are with their wives or girlfriends, so an unattached man is in heaven....I also notice the groups get bigger every year..most are married and their husbands treat them to the cruise

I'll check out the roll call, thanks
