HA! That actually wasn't my donut but one of my good friends. However she is a zoo director so she wouldn't allow us to take photos of her and the donut together. I ate "the loop."

Well I'm waiting at PDX to fly back to ATL. It was a great week/workshop. Amazing as always. It never seems to amaze me how much you can learn, etc. in just a few short days. That said having been here for almost a week now I'm ready to get back home.

I'm also now being head hunted so we will see what comes of everything. It's always great to know people like what we are doing especially if it can lead me up the ladder in terms of where I want to go in life. Either way though now its time to cross this off my list and move on to our wedding! Then the cruise in February. Something tells me its going to be a busy few months ahead.

After we moved into our house Jan and I explored the idea of putting a storage shed in the back. But it turns out the only way you can get one there is to hire a crane to lift it over your house. And the crane time costs almost as much as the shed. So we gave it up. We got a new neighbor recently, and a couple of days ago they had a shed put in back. I'm jealous.

This was just a couple of days ago before Isaac started dumping all this rain and wind on us. It's been really yucky for the past two days, and will be for another couple of days. But thank Heaven it's not worse.

Now I just need to get to know the new people. Then maybe Sharon or Tom could stay in the shed before their next cruise.

Larry

Couldn't you just build your shed from scratch to solve that problem?

I ordered a storage "box" for pool toys and it came yesterday. Bob put it together and I swear it could hold a couple of bodies it's so big (I just wanted to store noodles and water dumbell/paddles.)
Now I just have to figure out whose bodies I'll put in there. I'm kind of like "nature". I abhor a vacuum. Sheeeesh i wanted a storage box, not an upright freezer.

However, looking at that pic,not only do I have a huge plastic piano crate in my back yard, now I also have storage shed envy!

Sharon, I guess storage shed envy is better than basil envy, so you're still ahead of me.

I just got back from a walk. Strange thing, nobody else was out. I always kinda enjoy storms, as long as they don't do damage. So a slicker and Keens were all I needed to enjoy the wind and rain and get my daily exercise, or at least some of it.

But there are a lot of exercised people in town since Isaac has closed both ports. The Allure was due in today and RCI decided just to add two more days to the cruise and come in on Tuesday when the port reopens. Well, you can imagine how the 6,000 folks here ready to leave today on the Allure feel about waiting until Tuesday. Interesting reading on the Royal Caribbean forum.

And, Tom, I guess if I got a kit and built it myself I wouldn't need a crane. But none of the shed sellers around here operate that way. I had assumed they could just assemble it in my backyard, but they're all made in factories, both the metal ones and wooden ones, and transported whole. So that's why I don't have a shed. Now I'm even jealous of Sharon.

Larry

We are just going to build one ourselves eventually. Pete will probably design it, etc. or we will just find some book online. I know his dad did the same thing. I'm sure Pete would hep for some drinks...haha

Tom, I'm sure Pete would want to use much more expensive materials than I could provide. But I appreciate the thought. I'm guessing you think you and Pete could stay in the shed whenever you come to Florida. Actually, you know you and Pete are welcome to stay in our guest room anytime. We would really like that.

Guess what? I talked Jan into taking a walk with me, so we did three miles in the rain and wind. I get a total of six miles today. It's fun walking in the storm. Reminds me of walking to school when I was a kid.

I've always enjoyed walking in the rain. Perhaps because in So. Cal we got so little of it. Now, thunder and lightening? Even if it's 40 miles away? NO NO NO. You should see this fat old lady RUN when I'm outside and I hear thunder. Kind of like Fred Flintstone when he runs and his legs go round and round and he doesn't get anywhere.
Yabba dabba dooooo.

And I was sure you were going to regale us with stories of walking to school. You know, 10 miles through blizzards, floods and earthquakes. Uphill both directions. Nothing to eat but a cold, moldy biscuit. Hiding in caves from the Indians and dinosaurs.

Wow! They even give you a free garden caddy with a shed purchase.

But I think the flower boxes are more in my price range.

I could tell you stories about going to school in a hurricane or blizzard.
Once my driver forgot to bring the limo with the television and I had to sit there and read and listen to music.
Once I actually had to walk... IN THE SNOW.... from the limo to the door of the school. (at least the driver did drive up the stairs to the door). Oh the horrors I could tell you, but you'd never believe me!!

This makes me smile. Reminds me of what happened years ago in the newsroom in Philadelphia. Another reporter and I were trying to "out-poor" each other about how tough it was when we were kids and how poor we were. (Incidentally, he won. Seems he came home from school one afternoon and his house had collapsed.) Anyhow, one of our editors heard us and stopped by to tell us her story about the time when she was a girl and the family had to sell her horse. Because of a set-back in the stock market they couldn't afford to board it at the stables anymore. She got angry when we both politely laughed at her joke. Turns out she was telling the truth.

But as I mentioned before, the people hardest hit are the 6,000 passengers who were planning to board The Allure today. Both ports are closed, so instead of coming in today the Allure won't get back until Tuesday when they reopen Port Everglades. There are some really unhappy people. The people onboard getting an extra two days might be enjoying it, but they all have to change their travel plans now, too.

We've had only very minor damage. A few limbs down in the neighborhood, flooded streets, etc. Went for two walks today in my slicker and Keens. It was fun. Waded through some fairly deep water, but not up to my knees. Strong winds and heavy rains. Exhilarating.

This is why I wouldn't cruise during hurricane season if I didn't have to. I understand things being changed and that part wouldn't bother me. It would be having to rearrange all the travel since that's already so unpleasant. Oh and all the people who would have to write the "lettah."
