Am just now checking this board today...we had a great time with the "guys"..Hill at the Schooner Bar and Manny at the Aquarium Bar. Alot of familiar faces onboard (crew). Juan was working in the Cafe Promenade, makeing coffee and ice cream sundaes...First day out to sea was very rough...the worst we have sailed in so far. By the time we got to Bermuda everything cleared and and the rest of the time was great weather and smooth seas. St. Marteen had a "Carnival" going on in town so all the shops were closed...so we just shopped by the dock..it was ok, since we have been to St. Marteen several times before...it just prevented me from buying any jewlery!. San Juan was a short stop 7-1...and we managed to leave 4 people behind...must be they got held up at Senor Frogs!! Not alot of kids onboard, it was a older crowd onboard. Dining was good...had a table next to the captains table...was able to talk waiter into giving me one of the captains dinner desserts...So now we are looking forward to our next cruise Nov 4th. Booked a May 2013 cruise while we were onboard...our fall 2013 trip will be to Hawaii (not a cruise).

Sounds like you guys had a good time, Karen! And even thought it is already here and gone, you still have another one very close ahead. You really know how to vacation, always have one or more waiting in the wings. That's what I do, and that's what gets me through the day-to-day stresses.

I'll bet Russ was happy that the shops in St. Maarten were closed!

We are looking forward to Ed's reunion to see everyone. I am disappointed that we were not able to arrange a mini-reunion all this while, our cruise was half a year ago!!!

On a nicer note, the beginning of the summer is here, or will be very soon, Lots to look forward to!

Thanks, Donna,

It will certainly be a different kind of cruise for us, we are so accustomed to beach-type cruises. This is really a tour of France and Italy, using the ship as a floating hotel.

We won't know a soul on the ship, and the cruise board is very, very quiet. But as you can imagine, that won't stop me from having a good time and possibly becoming "Le Maire" in France and "Il Sindaco" in Italy!

Well, I guess you can tell from my expired countdown clock, I am in Outer Banks, NC, and the weather is just beautiful! Just came back from a walk on the beach and the water is warm (okay, it is not extremely cold!).

I will have a drink for each and every EGE in your honor. I just may have one for each person who was on our last cruise!

Have a great holiday weekend, hope that Beryl doesn't affect anyone's plans. The sun is hot, it should be a great week here.

Where in the Outer Banks? We took a day trip as far south as Kill Devil Hills to see the Wright Bros. exhibit. I had no idea that there's only 1 bridge over the island to go back up North and I made Steve take me up to Cuttrick Light House - then yelled at him that he was going the wrong way when we left the light house!!! He said, very calmly, "Barb, there's only one bridge and it's at the southern end of this island - this is about as North as we can go." I felt bad that we had to double back, especially because we didn't get to the light house until 15 mins. after it closed!

ernie, enjoy your outer banks. we are waiting for our allure b/b in early sept. we drive and make almost 3 weeks out of it.

i mentioned before that we are booked on the explorer on dec.3, 2012, april 18, 2013 and am planning to book on board allure or take out next cruise certs. for dec. 2, 2013 and march. 2, 2014.
rccl has been raising their rates, so it is best to book as soon as the cruises are listed.

Hi, Barb,

We are staying at a great beach house about a mile from Currituck Lighthouse. The weather has been fantastic so far, and we are getting ready to go for another marathon walk on the beach this morning, yeaterday was 4-mile walk to the "end" of the regular public access (only 4-wheel drive vehicles beyond that point - not for walking on the beach but for having access to a beach house since there are no roads past there).

Loving every minute of vacation! But that goes withou saying!

The food was good, the drinks were good, the company was, well, HOT! I mean, good!

Now to work for two months, then go to Ocean City for another great week. Then work for two months and go to London for my daughter's wedding, then off to Barcelona for a cruise!

Life is good!

How are you and Kit doing? How many cruises have you been on since our last one (just to make me jealous!).

Our only trip until 2013 is to Ed's house. NTTAWWT! We're saving for 2 trips in 2013, Ireland in late spring/early summer and of course a cruise in the fall. Fingers crossed that all works out!
