A First for Me!

as far as the eos, rccl is only showing available bookings though april 18, 2013. so far the rates are very low and we are thinking about booking it.

months ago i e-mailed adam goldstein the second in command on rccl and asked why that is and he said further bookings will appear for eos around april this year.

i wonder about that as we have booked the eos almost 2 years out several times. i do not want to start a rumor but i have heard on previous cruises that rccl is thinking about replacing the eos with another ship out of bayonne. also, some talk about not going from bayonne in the winter as some people have been complaining about rough seas going and coming.

That's a very interesting comment. They have other ships' itineraries up to about Sept 2013. I hope they don't shelve the fall trips - ours was great.

And how interesting that you have the ear of RCCL's second in command!

I agree with Dena - hope they don't do away with the fall trips! I'll be interested to see what happens - with all the bad publicity about the sewer smell, wondering if they might dry dock EOS early?

Hi, Guys,

I highly doubt that they would do away with the fall trips, but it would not surprise me if they retired the EOS from that port and itinerary and substituted it with another ship. It would have to be better in some way, some type of upgrade of ship, otherwise the outcry would be tremendous, and they do not want the negative publicity.

I think that is why the extended schedule is not available for the Explorer.

But that's how rumors get started!

Time to go for my Saturday night special, chicken wings! They made a new flavor at our favorite place. I always get them extra hot, extra crispy. They have a new degree of heat, they are extra, extra hot, and you have to ask for them by name. They named them a**burners, and I guess I don't have to explain why. All I can tell you is that I don't need a nightlight in my bathroom the next day!

After reading several negative reviews that were posted on cruise critics about the Explorer, which included the sewage issues, broken hot tubs, saunas, rude employees, key cards that didn't work, etc. I decided I would write an email to Adam Goldstein CEO of RC, wondering if any of his staff monitors any of these cruise review message boards and my concerns regarding all the recent negative reviews since we were sailing in April. Well 2 days later I received a phone call from his office on my voice mail wanting to discuss my email. I returned the call the next day, and spoke to his assisant. She assured me that they have members of their Senior Management who monitors all the "social networking boards", and when they see the same issues mentioned over and over, they make every attempt to correct it by working with the ship. She stated that they were well aware of the sewage issues, and they were working with the Explorer to get the issue corrected. She also said anytime they get complaints they do contact the ship, and try to get any issues corrected. She thanked me for my email, and they are always looking for feedback whether negative or positive. So it was a good chat on the phone.

Also thinking about a July 28th 5 night bermunda cruise on the Explorer, but having a hard time with the price, its more for a 5 day than its for the 11 day we have booked...

Hi, Karen,

I am the person responsible for the quality improvement for our agency, and to me, your conversation with them sounded like a token response with corporate BS. It's not that I don't want the best for RC and the best for the Explorer, but the answers sounded too rehearsed and patronizing. I really hope that they take your comments to heart, as they are well meaning and are not meant to be anything but an effort for RC to hear the public opinion and look toward correction.

Let's hope that they really "hear" you!

Our first cruise on Explorer was to Bermuda - we loved it, but if the price isn't right.....

If RC isn't responsive to people like you, who have been on that ship several times, and who cruise several times a year, who will they respond to? I'm hoping that they will resolve the problems and release some itineraries that are a bit different out of Bayonne. We would definitely be up for a fall 2013 cruise.

We already have our plans for the October 2013, it will be our 10th anniversary, and we are going back to where we were married, Hawaii..not a cruise...but 10 days on Waikiki Beach, anyone who would like to join us, is more than welcome, the more the merrier...we could have EGEIII in Waikiki, that kinda rhymes!!

While in college in Buffalo, NY, I use to go to the restaurant that started it all with the chicken wing. I think it was called "Frank and Mary's" and their original sauce was nothing like the sauces used today. The wing use to be a throw away part or used to make stock. Now look what it's become. Who would have guessed?

This year we're jumping ship and cruise line.

We're going back to Celebrity and the Summit. She's been solictized so she'll be a brand new ship and the celebrity suite that we had before now has a balcony so we booked it again. She's leaving from NJ. Plus we're going to spend a couple of days at the Gran Melia in PR after the cruise. Am I making this trip more enticing to anyone? I hope so, we've love to have you guys join us.

For Fall 2013, please keep us in the loop because we would love to sail with all of you again. We had such a wonderful time.

But, just had to search one particular "blue ribbon cruiser" and it led me right back "home". <sigh>

Whoosh - it was a scare there for a moment... Especially when I needed my fix of EGE - Not that there's anything wrong with that!!

I don't remember the owners - my nephew lives in Buffalo and Steve went to college there.

So now I know that you ARE as smart as I thought ~ UB has a great reputation. They actual opened an Anchor Bar in Rochester in one of the malls, but it's not the same.

A crazy idea hit me yesterday. Since we are going to London in early October, I am going to look into a European cruise immediately afterward. If there is one somewhat near my daughter's wedding date, and it is not too expensive or lasting too long, this could be an actual consideration! It would need to be a short cruise, since I can't keep on taking all this time off.

It's very far-fetched, but I'm going to at least give it some consideration.
