Default ELUA - The Hawaiian Ambassadors

Just to change things up, instead of giving a day by day playback of the four days returning to the mainland I have decided to give subject oriented posts. The first of these is concerning the fantastic duo known as Elua.
Elua is a Husband and Wife team of talented musicians, dancers and singers. They call themselves the Hawaiian Ambassadors of Golden Princess but their real names are

Leialoha

and Dave.

They entertained us in the Piazza and on the pool decks with live hawaiian music and dance but they also, daily, gave Ukalele and Hula dance lessons.

While I have some 3D photos of them in action, I was fortunate enough to receive their permission to video one of their song performances and it is posted at the end of this post.

I hope you enjoy this and it gives you some idea of what is in store for you when you sail to Hawaii on Golden Princess. It is my understanding Elua has signed a contract for another winter season with Golden Princess and Princess is the lucky winner in that agreement and all the passengers will the be the true winners.

Next post is my favorite: The Composition of a ShowGirl Photo.

Questions or comments always welcome.

VERY IMPORTANT: I have the 3D video posted on my blog, Click here. I was unable to embed it into this post so the only place it can be seen in on my blog post.

I hope you enjoy it and that it does Elua some justice.

We were on a snorkeling excursion off of Lahaina on our Island Princess cruise in 2005 when the guide said he was stopping the boat and told us to look in one direction. There were male whales doing their little dance showing off to entice a lady whale. It was interesting.

Default Composition of a ShowGirl Photo

Each vacation we take I try to create one photo that represents the whole voyage. Since starting to cruise it ended up being photos of the show girls.

Thanks to the help of the CD and of Rebecca (Manager of the Dancers) I was invited back stage after one evening perfomance. During this time the Girls happily posed for me allowing for a 3D photo.

The first photo below is the photo taken backstage.

I then "cut" the girls out of the photo to place them into a montage.

Next I found a photo of the Golden Princess so I could use it as a backdrop. This is the photo I used.

With these two photos the following is the final creation.

As stated earlier, I have done this for each of the other cruises we have taken. Here are the photos from those cruises. You may notice a quality difference (I hope for the better) in these latest photos.

Caribbean Princess:

and the Carnival Pride:

The next post topic will be a surprise as I have yet to process the photos required. So it will be a surprise for us all, me included. I am hoping to have it posted within the next few days.

Comments and questions always welcome.

I'm just now getting caught up with your review and photos. My wife and I just returned from a 15 day Panama Canal on the Coral Princess, and I haven't had much time to check CC recently. Your wonderful review was the first thing I looked up today. Your latest 3-D photos are terrific, especially Elua. Keep up the good work!

I appreciate your post. I must appologize to all who are following this thread. I have not died but life has caught up to me thus making the processing of the 3d photos difficult. I will be getting back to it shortly and hope that everyone understands. My wife and daughter are up to there necks in wedding planning and a lot of the goffer things are shoved off on me thus not allowing for time for me to get the 3D photos ready for posting.

BTW: How was your cruise?

The cruise was terrific. Every bit as good as our Hawaii cruise on the Golden last year. If you haven't already been, I highly recommend a Panama Canal cruise. I've been wanting to do that one for a long time, and it was everything I hoped it would be.

Default The Decorated Foods of Golden Princess (1)

Please allow me to start by saying how sorry I am for the delay in posting. Life and the processing of the photos have taken more time than I had anticipated. I do hope my next posts will be more timely.

Each sea day, on the pool deck, the staff of Golden Princess prepared a decorated buffet that was a true work of art.

They would start preparations at about 10 am and by the time it opened at noon there was quite a gathering of people, located to both watch the preparations and await the chance to taste the results.

Here are the photos of just some of the creations.

The next post will also be about food. The decorated food was not limited to just the upper pool decks as will be seen soon.

Questions and/or comments always welcome.

There are more than 30 other photos about this on my blog, link in signature below.

Default The Decorated Foods of Golden Princess (2)

While I do not particularly like photos of food on a plate, even when taken by professional photographers, there are always exceptions.

My previous post displayed the buffets that were offered on the upper decks of Golden Princess, the displays were not limited to just that location. Here are photos of other outstanding presentations that were offered up to the guests of Golden Princess.

Next post we will see the various flower arrangements Golden Princess had out for her guests to enjoy.

Comments always welcome.

There are lots more photos on my blog, link in signature.

Another nice set of photos. They weren't selling fudge at Godiva's Chocolates when we were on the Golden. In fact, it didn't seem like they were selling much of anything at Godiva's. It was usually closed when we were in the Piazza.

I did enjoy the special buffets that were set up outside the pool on sea days. There were some good specialty dishes served there.

Default The Flowers of Golden Princess

The food was not the only thing on Golden Princess that was arranged for the enjoyment of her guests. It was amazing to see the amount of flowers that were on display throughout the ship.

Next post we go back to the production shows, but this time it is held in the Vista Lounge.

Please allow me a day or two to prepare the photos for 3D presentation. I do hope it will not be more than 1 or 2 days.

As always I would love to get your feedback.

Default Vista Lounge Production Show

Due to the venue and the number of people wanting to enjoy this show, the number of photos I was able to take were significantly reduced. For this I am sorry, it most certainly is not a reflection of the quality of the show.

The next thing I must appologize for is that I have misplaced our Princess Patters. Because of this I do not know recall the name of the show. If anyone reading this can recall the name of this show I would appreciate it if you would share this information with all of us. And ... I thank you very much in advance.

At the end of the show I encountered these two stunning young ladies and they agreed to allow me to take their photos. Yes, there is nothing like someone in a uniform.

Next post, British Invasion Production Show. Yes this old man did remember the name of this show, thank goodness.

I hope to have this up for viewing withing the next few days.

As always your feedback is encouraged.

I believe the name of that show was Words and Music. It was performed in the Vista Lounge, wasn't it?
