Default Taxi IC Tahiti to roulottes?

Any idea how much a taxi from the IC Tahiti to the roulottes would be? I know they have a shuttle for a fee but the last one leaves at 4 and the roulottes don't open until 6. Also, coming back after dark on a Friday night, the taxi would cost more right? Will there be any issue getting one to get back to the resort? I hear they have live bands down there on Fridy nights and I would like to check that out. Sounds more fun than a fancy dinner at the resort. Any idea what time the music would start?

Psyfi - good for you for being adventurous and exploring the dining experience of Les Roulottes. This was one of the most fun things we did while in Papeete a couple years ago. It was magical chaos, flames blazing, woks sizzling, enormous plates of steak et pommes frites. Every type of international cuisine, all done by family operations. Don't miss the Belgian waffles for dessert. The music in the square immediately adjacent started around 9:00 the night we were there. Great entertainment, lots of young children playing and dancing and we loved soaking it all in. Even the alcohol soused guy sleeping stretched out on a bench sat up, said "bon soir" and made room for us and chatted personably with us, with great dignity! Loved it, loved it. Stay away from the cookie cutter resort restaurants and sample this unique experience - just be sure you go hungry and remember some will only take xpf's, some USD, you never know.

So glad you enjoyed it. Any idea how much a taxi would be from IC and if we would be able to get a taxi back later in the evening? Otherwise we might just have to do it our first night on the ship in lieu of the dining room.

Psyfi,
Apparently there is a transfer from the IC to downtown a few times a day so worth writing to the concierge for an answer.

We have never eaten there - PG food too good give up- but have enjoyed the atmosphere on the last night. Its definitely worth a walk around - may have had a crepe there some time ago.

There is a shuttle for a fee, but the last one goes late afternoon, so we would need to taxi back. I just wonder how hard it would be to get a taxi back and if the cost of the taxi would negate the savings for dinner (outside of the cultural experience).

The taxi from the pier to the IC was $24 for up to 4 people during the day. I'm assuming the reverse trip would be the same. The cost is greater at night but I'm not sure how much more. The hotel shuttle was 400xpf which is about $5 per person each way and you have to schedule a spot on it for each way. So you buy your ticket, for example, to go in on the 9am and return on the 2:30pm. I think the times to go in were 9, 11, 2, and 4 with returns on the 1/2 hr after each trip with 4:30 being the last. If you want to return at a different time than you booked, you need to catch the driver when he/she is dropping people off and see if your change request can be accommodated. When we were there, some early shuttle trips into town filled up and people had to choose a later time or make other arrangements. So if you decide to use the shuttle, don't wait till the last minute to book it to ensure you get a spot. And try to have a realistic return time because if it is full, they will not be able to take you at a different time than you reserved for.

At night prices are a bit higher - I think they just tack on an additinal 5 or ten dollars depending on the hour. We didnt find it difficult to find a taxi from the dock area at night last year.

I know Texed and others went to a Marina for dinner that wasnt too far away from the TIC - you may want to research that as an option.

Also from your roll call maybe you can get together with another couple and make the trip.

I don't think anyone else on the roll call is doing the same pre-cruise package, but we still have a while to figure that out.
