You can get games to play on Kindle Fire...not just books. I like Scrabble on the Fire. I do like to read a lot and didn't do too bad on my one overseas flights. I just plain don't like airports and the crowded feeling on planes.

I must say, I've never heard of this in all of my travels. What airline are you referring to?

Thanks!
That's not that long at all. Watch a couple of movies and a couple of tv shows and you're there. I hang out at the bar on the plane, get some snacks and before I know it, it's time to land

On my last overseas trip to Asia, I must've stood around the bar and chatted with the FA's for a couple of hours at least! and ate a lot of ice cream lol

I used to fly (pre 2001) from Toronto, to Sau Paulo BR, then from Sau Paulo to Hamburg Germany, then from Germany to Bangkok Thailand and then back to Toronto in a circuit like that over 10 days, (then 4 days at home to start all over again)..16 hours, 20 hours, 18 hours and then 32 hours for the return flight. I have gotten so used to sleeping on planes that as soon as the wheels leave the ground, i am out like a light.

Now that i am married SO gets the window seat -- so when i pass out -- i am always getting my head knocked by people in the aisle

Gilboman -- what Airline do you fly that has a BAR that you can stand in? I wish they had that when i was doing my trans atlantic/trans pacific flights..

All of these airlines charge for at least some entertainment offerings or using their systems:

1. Virgin America
2. Frontier
3. Delta (they are the worst for charges)
3. Alaska

I was also on a United flight fairly recently where some of the movies and tv shows were not free. I'm sure there are others.

Do they charge for using your own headphones?

When USAirways used to provide inflight entertainment on CONUS flights they'd charge $5 for the headset but you could keep it; no charge for using your own (or the one you had bought on the last flight).

I don't think anyone charges for headsets/entertainment on intercontinental flights.

I fly AC out of toronto to asia usually. The 777's have a bar in the galley. For N.American trips, I find AC to be the best. When I travel around Asia (outbound from asia), SQ is my usual choice.

I'm not sure if the A340/330 in their fleet has it, I always fly routes where they have the 777 flying.

But the best in flight lounges/bars I've experienced is Emirates..but I don't get chance to fly with them too often.

I guess I assumed it was a trip to Europe or some such thing, not a domestic...don't know why.

I've never heard of an airline charging you for using your own headphones, no. I think that would cause a big uproar from people, especially those who have really nice headphones.

7 hours on a plane is short to me. Barely enough time for a feed, drink, movie and snooze.

yup.. 7hrs "flight" time is nothing..but all the security/connections/customs/immigration add up. Helps a lot if you have priority boarding/luggage and a lounge to relax in.

My best experience so far is still Hong Kong..I was flying from Toronto and it was 20mins from walking off the plane to getting into a cab and leaving the airport. I power walked to customs, waited 5mins and my luggage was out already. North American airports..not a chance in the world lol

Hong Kong is just about the best airline in the world in my mind, both for connections and as an origin/destination airport. Singapore is great, Seoul is great, but Hong Kong is phenomenal to me.

But I do miss the old airport (Kai Tak) where it was right in the middle of city and so convenient ... and the fly-in, especially during sunset period overseeing the entire Victoria harbour before landing, it was so beautiful.

Quick question,

how are you able to watch a few movies on a plane via laptop? My laptop only lasts a few hours, and I don't think you can plug in on a plane lol I've flown from San Diego to Atlanta before and don't know how I made it through because I didn't have any other forms of entertainment besides my imagination haha

One of the best purchases I ever made for flights was noise cancellation ear phones. They eliminate a lot of that background drone and make the flight much more enjoyable, not to mention easier to sleep. You can also use them for the in flight movies or to listen to music on your IPOD (or whatever).

Pick an airline with power plugs even in Y class? All the airlines I've flown in past 5+ years have had power plugs (Y or J class). But then I rarely fly US based carriers unless I have to... but some must have power plugs??
