genoa is the closest. it is also a charming and historic city for pre or post cruise stays.

Default santa margherita

we stayed in Santa Margherita...its the shopping town for Portofino. about 80 kilometers from Savona...easy train ride
nice town with lots of restaurants
very nice 3 or 5 kilometer walk to portofino..there is also a bus and a water bus (in season for water bus)

The main airports that serve Savona are Milan, Nice and Genoa. Milan 6 Nice are 2 to 3 hours away and Genao about 1 hour.

If you bbok flights via Costa then the transfer are inlcuded in the price, if not then book Cossta's airport transfer.

Default staying over

when flying that far we always stay at least overnight..couple of nights in Santa Margherita were great. Best Western Hotel that is next to an old castle..woke up to a view of yacht harbour...nice walks..and train ride to ship was good...
only problem we had was that the trained stopped there at night and was so long that our car was not at the station..so no signs as to where we were and we almost did not get off...I normally know how many stops to my station to prevent this but failed to do this that trip..but we got off in time
