Default Dress code for men

I was wondering what is acceptable for men to wear at ding. My husband does struggle in the heat, and usually wears dress shorts (you know the three quarter linen type) with a smart shirt and appropriate shoes. He is intending to wear his kilt on formal night, but does he really to wear trousers in the restaurant?? Thanks

In the main dining room I'm afraid so - there may be some ships in the fleet where the Maitre D' or Head Waiters aren't so keen but on the Dream recently I certainly saw men respectfully reminded that long trousers are needed in the MDR and they went back to change. It happened on three or four occasions (our table was close to the entrance so we were aware but it was all done discretely and the passengers obliged.) Of course you can dine in the self-service in shorts.

I'm sure he will look very dashing in his kilt on formal night!

It is not hot in the dining room, in fact it is quite chilly. I needed a cardigan!
