Default Our First Cruise

Hi All, we will be 1st time cruising on the Freedom of the Seas May 20th. I had seen the cruise blogs of 2010 and the story by Trainman-2 of taking the cruise shortly after his wife passed. Seems we will be in the same stateroom he was in. It sure was a gripping story bringing tears to the eyes.

I am checking out the ports of call blogs and the first one Coco Bay might be a miss.

How does the "My Time" restaurant booking work?

I find the RC website could be a little more user friendly, a least that is what it seems to a newbie. Perhaps with a couple of cruises under your belt you don't need so much info up front. Maybe they should have an information booklet to go into detail, or maybe it is just the fun of it to discover how to get on by your self ( of course you miss out on things that way)

Anyway the wife and I are looking forward to our 1st cruise.

I will add to this as we cruise.

Welcome to Cruise Critic!! These boards are just full of information and people are genuinely glad to help.

We have sailed on the Freedom of the Seas twice and we really like it and I'm sure you will too. Port Canaveral is such an easy port to cruise from. You might also want to go to the Florida departure board as it will have more of the local info on the area.

We much prefer the My Timing dining. If you are assigned this dining option you are able to eat any time between about 6:00pm to 9:00pm. It will be held in a certain dining room that will be listed on your room card as well listed in the daily paper that's left in your cabin. You may for example choose a table for two or you may elect to eat at a larger table with others. Also if you like your servers, you may also request to sit in their section each night.

Happy Sailing!!!!

You can also go to your reservation on-line , and make your MTD reservations ahead of time ...We were on the Mariner in March and I did this . We had a perfect table for two , and the same waiter every evening.. Enjoy your cruise ...

Hi there.

We went on the two day trip to the Bahamas on bahama Celabration . I heard some bad things about it but I seen it with my own eyes and I was very happy with the food and the rooms and the whole crew they where very nice and friendly. I would go again if I get the chance again.

You will find every bit of info and then some right here.

Read a lot, use the search functionality, ask questions, join your roll call, research your ports in the Port of Call threads.

My wife being English is particular about her tea. Do the staterooms have the facilities to heat water for tea and coffee?

Also is it worth it to join the Royal Caribbean Club?
