Those are really the main differences. With the promenade, you can view the activities and parades from your window, but you have to remember to keep your curtains closed otherwise everyone can view into your cabin.

What is the price difference? I would definitely take a balcony over a promenade if the price wasn't too much more.

The difference is the Promenade is an inside cabin and very tight to get around.

In total for the cabin? (not per person)

Even if I don't use the balcony all that much, I like being about to open the curtains and look out at the sea especially when I am still in my pajamas.

However, $540 is a lot of money and I am also budget cruiser. That money could be put towards onboard purchases, next cruise deposits, nicer excursions, etc.

I see in your signature that it is your anniversary...If it were me, I'd go for the balcony. But only you can decide what you'd rather put that money towards. Either way, you'll have a lovely cabin on a wonderful ship!

Since your cruise is in September, it might be worth waiting to see if the price drops and you can upgrade for significantly less. It's a risk, but prices don't usually go up after final payment for cruises at that time of year. Even if the price remains the same, you can still upgrade after final, so it's not like you need to make the decision now.

BTW - In answer to your question a few days ago about who would be the CD on your sailing, Graham Seymour himself posted his schedule on the current CD list. It seems that you will miss him by one week, and that Drew Devine will be your CD. See posts $307 and #309

I can offer my imput. That is all it is, is imput.

We stayed in an E1 on FOS. You dont say how many people are in your party (or did you and I missed it?) For us, we have our DS. He was 11 at the time of the cruise. I would have been more expensive for us to take 2 PR cabins than on E1 balcony cabin. Now some PR cabins are family cabins.

So, the bottom line for us, with 3 people, balcony was less expensive. We enjoyed the balcony and would eat bfast (room service) out there.

It is impossible to tell someone what to do. Go with your gut and you will feel that sense of peace once you have picked the right cabin. I kept looking until the process was done

Nothing beats a balcony for me, but I loved our PR on Freedom (click on my Freedom review link in my sig - you'll find a "mini-review" of our PR room) and wouldn't hesitate to book one again IF the price was right. (And if my hubby wasn't cruising with us as he "must see the water.")

If it's in your budget I would go with the balcony. We had a promenade room on the Freedom this past November. DH thought it would be fun to try but we really missed the balcony. The cabin was very small and we spent as little time possible there. The bathroom and shower were so small DH went to the gym to use the one there. It didn't ruin our cruise or anything but DH vowed we would not make the mistake of not getting a balcony again.

Even the shower is smaller in a Promenade View cabin (vs a balcony cabin?)

RCI said they are the same, only bigger in JS. Our sons were in a PR last cruise but I couldn't remember the bathroom size. Hubby and I were up from them in a Balcony. They always kept their room a mess so I didn't go in much Told the Room Steward to leave it alone it was useless to clean it daily. Gave him extra tip at the end

When one person sits in the window seat and one sits on the couch your knees touch. We thought it would be fun,it wasn't.

I still think that since your cruise is in September, I would NOT make a change now. Wait for the price on the D2 to come down, which it probably will (no guarantees). Chances are very good that it won't go up, and you can always upgrade and pay the price difference right up until the cruise date.

Take the D....a promenade is actually smaller than an inside cabin! By quite a bit!
