Florida cruise prices
We are moving from NY to Florida. Years ago we had heard that people who live in FL can find very good deals on cruises that go out of Florida (lower that NY). Wondered if that is true and does RCI do it?

Well my personal opinion on that is that Florida Residents do get alot of offers, be it Disney or Universal tickets or cruises. My cruise right now is offering a Fla. Resident discount. Plus, we have the most crusie ports and they are all driveable, so think how much money you can save on airfare alone!

I was able to book Monarch for the 5 day cruise at a Resident Rate, Ocean View Stateroom for $280, as a single person, less than $350 signed sealed and delivered.

And for about as many times as I will see a FL resident rate there will be other times that there will be a different state residency rate or senior or police and fire or military but no FL residency rate.

Usually a cruise out of a Florida port is a lot cheaper, especially if you can drive to the port. Biggest reason is the huge number of ports and ships available, so they are all competing for your vacation dollar, and also competing with Disney, etc.
Besides cruise lines make most of their money from add ons anyway, booze, excursions, casino's, shopping, etc...

LIved here 16 years, check cruise prices weekly, and I don't see Florida resident rates for us any more frequently than other states. As it gets closer to sailing date senior and resident rates are added but it all evens out. Our advantage is being able to drive to the ports.or catching a rate drop after final payment time.

I would agree that the FL resident rates aren't any more frequent than other discounts however not having to fly to the port saves $$$ and you can actually take advantage of the last minute deals. But most of the time these are available to everyone.
I have lived in FL since 1982 and haven't hit a last minute deal or FL resident rate yet. So if you are able to cruise last minute, cruise anytime, or are retired I guess you can save a lot over being in state
Disney and the theme parks do offer some nice FL benefits and they are available just about year round.

Agreed....That's usually a bigger perk than most FL resident discounts.

I agree with what everyone else has said. Best cruising advantage is being close to so many cruise ports and driving to them. (Plus it is also great to finally have my son, who started cruising at age 9, at driving age, so I don't have to do the driving to the ports anymore! LOL! )
