Norwegian Jewel Good family fun by shortiboop20 Let me 1st say I'm a 1st time cruiser and CC helped me out alot. I chose this cruise because my son wanted a Nickelodoen Cruise. It took me 1 1/2 years to decide to book the cruise so I read pretty much everything. Somethings scared me and some were very helpful, so if I help 1 person it works for me. Day of boarding I had family drive my son and I to NY from South Jersey. it was about a 2 hour drive. We got to port about 10:30am. It was little confusing since we didn't know where to pull up. My dad pulled up to the side of the road past the boat next the Sea, Air, and Space Museum. It was a short walk back to the port. Once in front of building someone took our bags and we took elevator up. It didn't look right and I asked the guy a bunch of times if he was really an employee...lol. Gave him a tip for the help. Once off the elevator we went thru security and had our carry-on bags checked. went thru a few lines and then got to the desk where they took our pictures and gave us the room cards. I was putting a cash deposit so they let me know to do that once on ship. They gave us a waiting # in no order (22) and we sat in the waiting area. The started calling #s by 11:30am so it was half hr earlier than we were expecting. Once we were quickly on board at 11:30am and greeted with a sparkling beverage, we went directly to the new Bistro on Five for a relaxing lunch...at the time we were one of 3 couples dining. The food was VERY good and the atmosphere much more relaxed than the buffet area. When we finished lunch we headed to Normandie to wait with other suite guests and were escorted to our cabin about one hour earlier than the announcement of cabin openings. The Royal Suite was nicely appointed as expected with a grand deck with a Jacuzzi, deck loungers, and table/4 chairs. It had a door to the living room and a door to the bedroom. Inside the cabin, the dining room had a nice round table/4 chairs and bar area where 1 litre of Vodka/Scotch/mixers were provided as well as 2 litres of bottle water. the mini fridge was filled also. The living room was spacious and had a full size sofa sleeper and love seat and chair. Large flat screen TV hung on the wall and there were many cupboards throughout room for storage. The computer workstation had a chair, but Celebrity has removed the computer for some reason...wish they had not. Continue reading Fantastic Summit Cruise Crown Princess Great 14 day Caribbean cruise on Princess Crown by billandjean My wife and I have cruised successfully with Princess a total of 4 times, and our most recent cruise on the Princess Crown was no exception. We like Princess because of its consistency. We also like Princess because their staff almost always makes a great effort to deliver the services promised. The Princess Crown staff was very easy to deal with. A good example was our scheduled shore excursion in Belize during our first week. We had experienced a little difficulty with some sea sickness at the very start of that week, but had overcome it early on and already enjoyed stops at Grand Cayman and Roatan by the time Belize presented itself. We knew there was a lengthy tender ride there, followed by a 2 hour river boat ride. We decided we didn't want to risk another bout with seasickness, so we went to the tour desk to see if we could obtain a refund. We were past the point in time where a cancellation would be accepted, but the very gracious staff person working the Tour Desk offered to attempt to re-sell our tickets for us, and was successful. We certainly appreciated her effort. Continue reading Great 14 day Caribbean cruise on Princess Crown Eurodam Eurodam to Europe by betsy23 Recently returned (Friday!) from a 13 day cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to Civitavecchia, Italy on HAL's Eurodam. I shared a cabin with my 80 yr old parents, and my sister and her husband also traveled in their own stateroom. We booked directly through HAL, and got our air tickets through HAL. Traveling to Ft. Lauderdale was effortless, and we grabbed a taxi and went to the Total Wine Shop (minutes from the ship) to buy a couple of bottles of wine and some soda before boarding the ship. The stateroom was small, but we did ok. We didn't use the balcony much (it was cool, and we encountered some rough seas). Next time, we'd probably opt for an inside cabin (I hear they are larger) but only if we also get a cabana, like we did this time. (See below. I LOVE cabanas and will ALWAYS book one henceforth!) Continue reading Eurodam to Europe Freedom of the Seas Family and Friends cruise with a party of 16 by live2vayk My apologies in advance, this review is long and bounces around a bit.... This cruise was a school vacation cruise with four families. 8 adults and 8 children. Kids ranged from 8-15. All adults have cruised in the past, and 2 of the 8 children have cruised in the past. All adults have cruised on RCCL in the past, and my family took our two children on a Disney cruise in 2009 as well. We all flew into Orlando at different times, some families extended their vacation prior and beyond the cruise. My family flew into Orlando the day before the cruise, and I highly recommend this. If you are flying in from any distance, there are too many things that can delay you and cause you to stress about not getting to the port in time. There are several options to get to Port Canaveral from the airport. We choose to rent a car. There are several car rental agencies in Port Canaveral that are close to the pier, and they offer very reasonably priced one way rentals. So you can rent a car, drive to Port Canaveral, turn the car in and catch a shuttle to the pier. On the last day, once you are off from the ship, you can catch a shuttle back to the car rental agency and rent again a one way rental from Port Canaveral back to the airport. They have this down to a science, and it went very smoothly for us and was by far the most economical way to get all four of us and our luggage to and from the cruise.
