take me too!
Visiting NYC Memorial day weekend: touring the Intrepid museum and admiring the great vessels docked for fleet week, we stumbled upon the MS Veendam. OMG... I was ready to give up on my week in NYC to stowaway on board!!! I watched enthusiastic cruisers embarking on their journey and wondered if any had a big enough suitcase to hide me in it! Lifeboat drill came and went. Didn't they see me waving and begging???
I LOVE HAL!  Have a fantastic journey MS Veendam cruisers! Any similar stories?

I do that all the time here in Vancouver when I go down and watch the passengers get on the ships bound for Alaska.

Saw the Statendam last weekend in Astoria -- freaked out so much I think I almost scared my sister-in-law off the road! My husband has pointed out cruise ships to me a few times in the past (in Astoria or elsewhere) and I didn't care much. But now that my first cruise is just three weeks away I am EXCITED! I saw the ship when we were pretty far away and I yelled "A CRUISE SHIP!!!!" Then as we approached I said "WAIT, it's a HOLLAND AMERICA cruise ship!" Then even closer, "IT'S THE STATENDAM". Pretty cool.

Wish we lived near a port so that we could go down and see the ships.
Years ago when the Mississippi Queen would come to Pittsburgh - we would go down and see her.

Wow! How nice to live near a port to watch the cruise ships. I grew up iiving in the Quad Cities ( Davenport/Bettendorf, Iowa and Moline/Rock Island, IL) which is along the Missiissippi River. When I was young, we would go down to the levee to see the Delta Queen. All lit up at she certainly was regal.
