Default Additional info from John Heald

Q: When will the new program launch?

A: We are targeting a June 11th announcement. On the 11th, all members will be able to see their program status and cruise history via Carnival.com. The program will take effect on sailings departing on or after June 25th. We still have some technical work to do, but the above dates are what we are shooting for.

Q: What if I'm currently Platinum and fall short of the 75 days qualification?

A: All current Platinum guests will remain Platinum regardless of the number of days (unless of course you have 200+ days, in which case you will become a Diamond member)

Q: I'm really close to reaching 10 cruises, do I now need to reach 75 days in order to become Platinum?

A: Anyone with nine (9) sailings will earn Platinum status in the new program by taking one sailing of any length within one year of the program effective date, June 25, 2012.

Anyone with eight (8) sailings will earn Platinum status in the new program by taking two sailings of any length within 18 months of the program effective date, June 25, 2012.

Q: What is happening to the Milestone program?

A: The Milestone program will remain in place and unchanged.

Thanks now I can actually read it. Kind of disappointed about the tourney entry but I only used it about half the time anyway. I'm really happy they kept the Milestone going 'cus thats money on the S&S card I will use that for sure.

As I understand it those who are within 1-4 cruises of making Diamond under current plan are screwed unless they have 200 days.

What happens to those who are Diamond under current plan that have made Diamond (25 cruises) by taking only 2-3-4 day cruises. Do they drop back to Plantinum.

I just see this as a win win for Carnival not us who are close to Diamond according to todays loyallty program.

Great summation.........There is still not enough distinction between Platinum and Diamond.......I'm Milestone now and the recognition on my last cruise was virtually non-existent.......I've grown tired of the few perks of Platinum, since there are so many Platinums out there even VIP embarkation has lost it's desirability........

I think I'm going to go back to my old method of embarkation which is to arrive at the pier after 1:30ish, so that I can still walk straight onto the ship, have time to go directly to my cabin to drop bags and get a bite to eat and a Bloody Mary before Muster.

The cutbacks are a real disappointment and the new stuff is almost useless to me........

I don't care to have dinner with the captain, though I might go to a cocktail party if I don't have to dress up for it.....

My sister and I don't eat in the Specialty restaurants because we just can't eat that much food and it's an obscene waste...........

I don't need or want a dedicated toll free number and can't imagine an occasion when I would use it........

The free upgrade is okay but upgrade to what? Sister and I sail on IS cabins (and have a very specific and preferred location) but I'm not going to turn an upgrade down unless it's to a crappy cabin that wouldn't otherwise sell......and I don't know anyone that I would want to share a cabin with other than the sister that I already sail with.

I have to agree, I will be 13 days away from official Diamond status by the end of January, but the extra's that I'll get for being Diamond aren't any real incentive to book 2 more cruises next year.

I'm retiring in 30 days and had only planned on taking a couple of cruises a year until I get settled into my new fixed income life.......so I guess I'll make Diamond in 2014.......

Okay, so I have a question which I think I know the answer, but wanted others opinions, LOL.

I have 24 days sailed so far. I cruise Aug. 19th & obviously my 1st day is the 25th day, so does that make that sailing bump me to Gold at check-in?

I have a question because I keep getting confused with the milestone vs diamond tier. Several comments I've seen leave the impression that milestone is losing out somehow with the new plan. I thought that under the existing plan that the highest you could be was platinum except for milestone cruises, 25th, 50th, etc. Also I thought you only got the white card on the milestone cruise. What was I missing from the current program? And yes, I understand that the milestone program remains in place.

More for curiosity than anything else - I'm at 21 days and will hit 28 (gold) on my next sailing. Will I be gold or will I be red?

OKGirl,

I plan to use our free upgrade on Valor or Liberty and upgrade from Cat 12 suite to Captain's suite. They'll likely print a disclaimer saying that option is off the table since it's the only option I would like. I guess I could book an aft balcony and upgrade to aft wrap or would it have to be from a Premium Balcony to an aft wrap?

I figure I have about five years to consider my options while waiting to hit Diamond. Diamond and Milestone will be very close together for us; Wonder if we'll get a Milestone Card with a Diamond on it or vice versa? I also wonder how many more blue cards we'll get between now and then.

Since I won't be doing the BOGO for the slot/BJ tourney, I wonder if I can get the Complimentary arcade credits (valued at $5, guest under 18 only) even though I'm over 18?

Based on then way I am reading this diamond is really a new category. per JH blog milestone is unchanged, you will still get the 25% on your 25th cruise. Previously there was really no distinction between 10 an 25+ other than the1 time discount. so the new cqat gives a few more one time discounts. those of us with 25 cruises but less than 200 days are not losing anything more than the cuts in platinum

You are already gold as you have been on more than 1 cruise under the old plan. You will not be demoted to red from gold, you will stay gold since you are at 24 days prior to embarkation.

That is unless under the new plan you have to already be at 25 when you embark and you get demoted to red for 1 day or until the next cruise. This one is on the edge of what we know and what they will reveal on June 11.

Milestone is not a part of the VIFP club. Being milestone does not = Diamond. Diamond is a new level and is for people with 200+ days. Platinum was 10 cruises or more under the current plan and will be 75 to 199 days under the new plan.

Hey Paul, based upon everything else, I would be shocked if they let you upgrade to the CS free (but it one heck of a room(s)! We are currently at 21 cruises with number 22 schedued in August (all but 3 have been for 7 days or longer). Instead of 3 more cruises to get to the all new elusive Diamond level, we will have to take an additional 3 more more above the 3 previously mentioned (22 to 25). Bottom line, we will continue cruising Carnival and wonder why we did not take two cruises i those years we only took one. Nice review of the options BTW.

Hello,
we will turn platinum on our 1st leg of our back to back in October/November. This will be our 10th cruise. Both legs are 5 days each. I am wondering if we qualify for the perks because it says 5+ days for a few of them. Is it 5 days and up or do they mean anything over 5 days? (Past guest party, strawberries, there might be another one too)
Thanks
