Naw, they'll give you an inside cabin. Problem solved.

You're all a bunch of amateurs. I like to gain 2.5 pounds per day. Why do you feel the need to starve yourself on a cruise?

thanks for an interesting thread! I've been frustrated about most threads and the bashing that happens. If we would all ignore the rants we can't stand, they'll slowly disappear unless we go digging deep!

To improve the flavor all you have to do is dilute with vodka instead of water.

You are all missing the point, which of course is because you are all much to stoopid to cruise.

Of course the fork was dirty, it takes water to wash dishes. Where do you expect the ship to find water in the middle of the ocean? They have to buy water at each island, well only the ones with water factories otherwise shipping it would be too expensive.

On a previous Princess cruise we had recently left Grand Cayman heading towards Costa Maya when a medical emergency caused the Captain to turn the ship around (it was a sharp turn- we were at MDR at the time and the water was tilting in the glasses!) so the passenger could be unloaded in Grand Cayman.

Once the passenger was unloaded the Captain really stepped on the pedal to make up the lost time and try to get to port (It was later announced Costa Maya would be skipped and we would go straight to Cozumel and basically spend 2 days there).

A lady we met on the elevator that night was FUMING at the Pursers desk. Apparently she had gone to the Purser and asked them to please contact the Bridge so she could demand the Captain slow the ship down because it was causing her to be seasick. She was upset they wouldn't call the bridge!! Who knows what the crazy lady demanded!

I don't see how these poor employees deal with people sometimes! And from what we heard later the passenger was doing okay in Grand Cayman.

Okay...we are the most mistreated cruisers of all by RCI. Just read about our troubles and you will agree that we had truly terrible problems.

We had our first OS ever on the Mardi Gras cruise out of New Orleans this year on Voyager. The suite was huge, and we had so much room we were able to entertain new friends several times on the cruise, we had a totally fabulous time attending Derek Lewis' wedding and hanging out in the Pig and Whistle nearly every night where we embarrassed ourselves with karaoke and got a whole bunch of new Del Sol colorchanging rings, but there were SUCH BIG PROBLEMS we might never cruise RCI again.

First, there was a HUGE problem with our Owners Suite! THE LIGHTS IN ALL THREE OF THE CLOSETS DIDN'T WORK! They were supposed to come on automatically when we opened the doors and they didn't. So sometimes it was terribly hard to see our clothes and choose what to wear. We were devastated! We did report this horrific problem to our suite steward, and he sent a series of technicians to our suite, but they were unable to figure out what was wrong. All of these guys were very very sweet and very apologetic, but the bottom line was that they didn't get the closet lights to work. This alone should warrant a free cruise, in another Owners Suite, but there's more...

A couple of times our TV signal just kind of got lost in space and the TV blipped out. Geez! If there's one thing I want to do constantly on a cruise, it's watch TV!! We should have been given at least a $500 OBC for this HUGE problem, but all we got was some kind of lame excuse about intermittent problems with the satellite signals.

AND on ONE day during the 7 night cruise, the suite steward forgot to leave that special little stack of clean towels next to the bidet in our OS bathroom. This RUINED OUR ENTIRE CRUISE because we had to use 2 hand towels that we had already dried our hands on for our little butt baths for half of that day. Have you ever heard of anything so bad? I think this terrible inequity should at least have warranted another $100 or so in OBC. I mean....really....one should always have a clean fresh towel for one's butt when one uses the bidet, right? My butt is totally insulted and I'll never get over it!

AND the food was really terrible, TOTALLY INEDIBLE, because I only gained 4 pounds on the cruise. Everyone knows that you are supposed to gain at least 5 pounds on a 7 day cruise.

But the worst issue was truly catastrophic. The OS has so many drawers, cupboards, closets, shelves, and miscellaneous cubbyholes for storage that IT ATE THE CHARGER FOR OUR SONICARE TOOTHBRUSHES. We know we brought it with us, and we know we put it somewhere, and we know neither of us needed to use it on our cruise (even though we did brush our teeth regularly), but WE NEVER FOUND IT WHEN WE PACKED TO LEAVE! Or perhaps our Sonicare charger was stolen...I have heard rumors that Voyager has a sneaky gang of toothbrush accessory thieves aboard. And then, to add insult to injury, after the cruise we discovered that you can't buy just a charger for Sonicare - you have to buy a whole new toothbrush WITH a charger. So we're out about $50 for that.

So that's the whole sad story of our Mardi Gras cruise this year. We figure RCI owes us a free cruise, about $600 in OBC, a pound or two of good food, and a new charger for our Sonicare toothbrushes.

I rest my case...we are currently talking to Bill Gates and Paul Allen to see if we can only cruise on their yachts in the future to avoid such dreadful problems. I'm sure they will be amenable to our requests and we'll never have to cruise in such a substandard manner on RCI again!
Judy

P.S. Also...once or twice...for a moment or two on this cruise, I thought our shower (the nice big glass one next to the jacuzzi tub in our OS bathroom) smelled kinda funny...it kind of smelled like a dead starfish had been in it......that should have warranted at least another $100 in OBC...just sayin'...

Default There was nothing to do!!

On our last cruise, on the airplane home, we sat next to some folks that had been on our cruise. We only know this because they were complaining. They were complaining about how horrible the cruise was because there was NOTHING to do on the ship!! They went on and on about how they would never cruise that line again, and how they wanted a refund, since they had nothing to do all week, they were bored to death. OMG, we sat there and listened, my sister and I looking at each other not believing what we were hearing. Finally, me being who I am, had to chime in. I said to them, what do you mean there was nothing to do?? There is so much to do on a cruise, we could not do it all. Heck, we couldn't do half of it!! If anything, there is too much to do! I just can't believe that someone could say there is nothing to do on a cruise! Really?? LOL....

Wow...okay, I've slept since then...and probably I've suffered the death of numerous brain cells from a combination of regular indulgence in wine and the aging process since then too, but to the best of my recollection...

It was truly a very funny story...There were these 2 ladies who didn't know each other at all, but for some reason they got matched up by a TA and were sharing a cabin. They had nothing in common and really didn't get along. Plus one was deaf or severely hard of hearing. The one who posted went on and on about the roommate and how bad she was. Since the roommate was deaf, they weren't exactly communicating with each other and there were a multitude of problems, and although many of the issues described by the OP were really nitpickery, they did make for an entertaining read with the normal amount of entertaining responses. Anyway, the thing that really iced the cake was that the deaf roomie somehow managed to bring a live starfish aboard from one of the ports, which she proceeded to put on the floor in the shower, covered with wet towels, so she could keep it alive, presumably to take home as a pet. Only it didn't work. The starfish croaked. Then it smelled. Bad. And for some reason this was RCI's fault and problem. Finally RCI came up with another cabin and separated them.

So that's pretty much the quick and dirty version...maybe somebody else can add more detail???
It was a lively thread...to say the least! And it was terribly entertaining...in a way that I'm sure the OP did not intend.

It is probably actually cheaper for the company to give you the free whatever, than it is to fix the actual underlying problem.
