Default Aft cabin v Junior suite

This is our 1st cruise and we find ourselves with the following dilemma. Our cabin has been upgraded (for which we are extremely grateful) However, we originally had an aft cabin (with balcony) and we were really looking forward to sitting out on the balcony, watching where we had been. However, we have been upgraded to a Junior suite. Whilst we are aware these are somewhat bigger etc, it is on the side of the ship and we have read a few reviews from people who say they were woken up early due to quite a bit of movement from the deck above. What do you recommend - do we go with the upgrade or stay with the aft balcony?

Your best bet it so contact the cruise line (or if booked through a TA have them do this) to see if you can get your original cabin back.

Not sure which cruise ship you are on but you could also post on the cruise line board with the specific cabin number to see if others were bothered with the noise you mentioned.

Which ship? Doesn't matter....I'd much rather have the JS...so nice and spacious...than a standard cabin...even an aft! The balcony is ample for 2 and the bathroom is larger....what's not to love?

this is a reason why your booking should be marked NO UPGRADES.

It may be too late to get the aft cabin back.

Ship name would help

i would recommend trying to stay in the aft cabin. I have sailed with an aft cabin before and must say I truly enjoyed it. I was lucky to have gotten it, but if I had the funds I would definitely make staying in an aft cabin again the top of my "wants list."

There is a difference when discussing "aft" cabins. The cruise lines refer to "aft" as any cabin past mid-ship.
Fantail is the correct term and are the cabins facing the back of the ship.
Be sure to check to deck configuration for a particular cabin.

I did a deluxe guarantee with RCI Enchantment OTS, they gave us a "fantail" ( thank you for that) or aft facing JS....There r no words to describe how excited I am. Worried the seas will be rough, but a rough day at sea is better than a calm day at work!!!

If you have a corner aft with a wrap around balcony I would try and keep other. Any cabin on the back third of the ship, past the mid-point, is also considered aft so it could be that you aft cabin also had a side view. If this was the case I would stay with the Jr. Suite.
