Default Car Rentals in each port

Hello, we would like to rent a car in each port, Honolulu, Nawiliwili, Hilo and Lahaina. Are their car rentals right where we dock and what is the easiest way in each port. Thank you in advance for your help.

Most car rentals are at/near the airport. There are shuttles that take you from the pier to pick up the car and will also take you back to pier when you drop off the car.

I just booked one through Thrifty for Kona, and the pick up is at the King Kamahana Resort directly across the street from the pier.

From a lot of the stuff I have read here on CC, Thrifty seems to be the most popular rental agency.

But like brettsmom2004 said, most car rentals are at the the airports and hotels and offer shuttle service. Just make sure you plan your day and car pickup/drop off times with enought time for you to get back to the pier (i.e. traffic).

I booked through this company http://www.discounthawaiicarrental.com/ that had good discounts. There are a few choices at each island on the car rental. It says Brand B, Brand C, etc but if you click on it you know. I ended up booking Thrifty booked for all islands and they have a free shuttle from the cruise ship to their rental lot except in Lahaina. As far as I could tell in Lahaina only 2 car rentals provided a shuttle and you phone them when you get on the tender. I first tried to book Enterprise and they were sold out in all categories for the one day so I tried Dollar - the only other one with a shuttle - and got a booking. The other two rental places say to call a cab. So don't take too long to book.Tourists that are staying for a week or longer are all booking rental cars.

Default King Kam hotel

Just booked a Thrifty car rental to pickup at King Kamehameha hotel. Is it within walking distance of the ship? Hope so, since the airport car rentals are a 20 minute shuttle ride away.

Thanks,
Tony

Yes, the King Ham Hotel is right at the end of the pier. Walk to the end, turn left when you reach the street, and you are on the King Kam property. Car rental is right there. When you rent your car, however, be sure you specify King Kam and NOT the airport ! People goof that up often. Also remember you'll be tendering to the Kona pier. Allow time.

Is overnight parking available in Lahaina? I am not sure if it would be a big hassle to rent one there with the tender and parking issues? We will be in Lahaina two full days, but we have to tender.
