Smile First time cruise, Ventura CC cabin D702

Hi, just wondering if the cabin we have been allocated (couldn't decide which one to opt for at time of booking) D702 is in good position? Have had a look on the deck plans and there is a corridor door just outside and it appears close to lifts and stairs so am a little concerned with noise?

Grateful for any hints and tips!

Thanks.

I noticed that you haven't had any reply- the P&O board tends to be one of the quieter ones on CC. I had a look on the deck plans, and your cabin is in a decent location. It is dead next to the aft stairs/lifts, which is convenient. I have stayed next to the midships lifts, and had no noise whatsoever. The lift lobbies on passenger decks actually tend to be very quiet.

Oh, and those 'corridor doors' are just marking the ships automatic fire doors on the deck plans, which will automatically slide across in the event of a fire. There are no actual doors in the corridors, and you can see right to the very end of the ship. See this picture here:

Perfectly good cabin. Indeed, it's a Deluxe Balcony - did you book that or a standard balcony cabin? The Deluxe Balcony cabins are bigger, and have somewhat bigger balconies than most of the standard balcony cabins.

Default Thanks for replying!

Thanks for the info, am new to cruising and cruise critic and that was my first post! I will have to have a good look around and see how it all works.

We booked the deluxe room (cc) but couldn't decide, when in the travel agents, whereabouts on the ship we would like to be so just left it up to fate! We thought we would go for a balcony but a couple of people have said to us recently that they wouldn't have bothered? I like the thought of sitting on balcony and watching world go by.

I can see you have both been on Ventura - we are freedom dining and are getting mixed advice regarding tips. Have been advised by a neighbour to go ASAP to reception and ask for tips to be taken off and do tipping personally - is that what you would recommend.

Am really looking forward to the cruise but really not sure if will like it or not!!!!

It would be difficult to tip personally if you are on freedom dining, as you will get different waiters each evening. I would leave auto tipping in place.

You cannot remove auto tipping when on freedom dining, unless you were very unhappy with the service.

We've done three cruIses on Ventura and have enjoyed them all, and we have a fourth booked. If you're interested, have a look at my blog, especially the 'Previous Cruises' section (r/h side). There are some reviews + links to blog entries for the Ventura cruises (and others).
