In 5 cruises I have been lucky enough never to have encountered button pushers or rail riders (and I realize that I have now officially jinxed my next cruise), but the stair sitters have definitely been a problem. We generally take the stairs for exercise purposes, and have often found them blocked by folks of all ages sitting and gabbing, resting, or whatever.
Maybe we can put the rail riders to good use by making them wear sanitizer devices on their backsides, thus disinfecting the railings on their way down.

I'm going to jinx myself too by saying I have never encountered a button pusher or rail rider on any of my cruises.

Grab the button pushers finger and bend it backwards until it snaps.

Cold cock the rail riders so they fall over the other way.

Dont walk around the sitters, step over them, kind of like a hurtle on stairs. Accidentally kicking them in the head as you bring your foot over.

There is no reason we should have to breathe the same air with anyone we dont want to.

Or you can just get over it, and carry on with your fabulous vacation and let them be.

Your sarcasm detector is busted... go reread the last line in the post you're referring to.

I would love to take the kid to the nearest bar, make him/her drink four cans of Coke or two large bottles of water, sit there until he has to "go" and them drag him to the elevator and make him stand there while I push all the buttons twice. He's standing there, miserable, trying not to pee his pants.

Either that or drag my ex with me after he's eaten a good bit of cabbage. After he lets one of his "rippers" out, everyone leaves the elevator. All I would say is "next time you push all the buttons, he's not gonna let you out of here for 5 minutes".

To all the PC folks out there....only kidding! No child abuse intended.
Hahaha! Love it!

As long as they don't start bringing their skateboards and try riding the rails with those, I don't pay attention to them.

We try to go on long cruises that have few children on them.

I knew there was a better use for my duct tape than fixing a broken suitcase!

I've never encountered button pushers or rail riders on my cruises, but the stair sitters do drive me crazy! On our recent cruise, and entire family group seemed to be meeting by the stairs and they were just sitting there, probably 12-15 of them when we came by. Yes, there are multiple sets of stairs, and I went around them to another set, but I did give them the stink-eye on my way past!

Until I read the responses, I wasn't exactly certain what rail riders were. I have never seen them on a cruise. Lately we've been taking more cruise on Princess, Holland America, and Celebrity, but we did take a spring break cruise this year on a Carnival ship and I did not see any on it either.

As for button pushers, I avoid the elevators on ships so they've never bothered me.

If RCI would pay the elevator attendants a decent wage we would not have to make up for their lack of salary with tips. J/k folks J/k

I think that if you did confine a child in the elevator, you'd be the one looking at trouble. It is truly irritating when anyone pushes all the buttons for "fun" and I wish parents would stop their children from doing it, but we can't do much about it without causing ourselves problems. Sigh.

As for stair sitters/blockers and rail sliders, I would have no qualms about taking their pictures and reporting them to security, et al. Those behaviors are safety issues and nothing to take lightly.

Just a note: Please look up the definition of pedophile before you sling it around so casually. As far as I know, there aren't any here and certainly no responses warrant that accusation.

I just say "Excuse me!" and give them a hard stare until they move. No way would I use another staircase, just to suit them.

Its official, I jinxed myself. For the first time I was the victim of a button pusher last week on FOS. It was a PITA but it didn't ruin my cruise. In fact myself and the other three people that were in the elevator had a good laugh about it.

I would have ridden the entire elevator and not let him out!
