Will my groom see me while waiting to board ship??

I did a wedding site inspection and saw that the bride and groom were in the same room with all of the guests waiting to board the ship. Has anyone ever used one of those big golf umbrellas or a 3 sided poster board to try to hide yourself from the groom and guests? My hair and make up will be done upon arrival to the port but I still dont want anyone seeing me until the ceremony.

Anyone have any ideas? Can I have my groom show up after everyone has boarded for the wedding?

I'm also trying to figure out a way around that. I mean I know I won't have my dress on and all, but I was hoping to not have any contact with him at all before I walked down the isle.

There is no way around it. We just got married on the Dream and when you check in you all have to be together. The wedding planner needs to go over alot of stuff prior to getting on the ship and its easier for both to be there. the wedding officient has stuff they need to go over too. Plus, you have to show your boarding pass and you have to be together. I know you don't want to see the groom, but let me tell you, even with hair and makeup done, the real WOW is when you walk down the aisle in your dress.

Thank you for that...it just sucks..esp at the port of baltimore...ive seen there is another room behind the room everyone is in..i dont know why the bride cant just stay in there...sigh...

It was the same on my ship tour too--in Baltimore they're crazy about security, so it's a requirement that the wedding group stays together.

When I did the ship tour in Baltimore, I didn't see any special "room" at all for the wedding party. I thought maybe there was a VIP area.. but it's good to know that there is at least a room.

I think I would prefer to be the last person to check in, rather than have the groom check in last. I've read other brides say that they split there boarding passes so that they could check in separately.

The "room" they had us waiting in with the wedding group was actually the loading area right before they allow you to board the ship (you see customs on your way to the ship). It was right behind the VIP/Express boarding area I'm not sure how they have them check-in for the cruise.

Excellant idea about splitting the boarding passes....I will have to try that

We made sure to have SEPARATE boarding passes. We had ours on embarkation day in NYC...and security was pretty tight also. We had requested that we wanted to stay separate. And they allowed it! I was supposed to board before him - but there was a transportation issue - but, I ended up having to wait for him to board the ship - then they came and got me. SO...i would ask - they told us they couldnt guarantee it...but that they would try their best...and they did...we didnt see each other til I walked down the aisle.
Just make sure he stays with his group that is getting ready - and you stay with yours...they should be able to accomodate you that way. just ask!

It CAN be done. You have to talk to your WC what I have heard of them doing it.. the bride arrived at (example times only) 9:30 to go through the check in and then be escorted to the room, as long as there are no delays with people exiting the ship. If there are delays they take the bride into a private waiting area. The groom arrived at 10 and did his check in and was taken to one of the groomsmen staterooms to get ready.

Its not foolproof but it is possible

We were told if we really wanted to they could make it happen but I preferred not to, it would be way too much work and then if he accidentally saw me I'd be so upset. Since we had to check in for the actual cruise and then speak to the coordinator AND officiant, sign the wedding license... just so much I wanted my husband to be a part of and help me make decisions about.
