I like my towel animals too. I wouldn't demand them, but if they enjoy making them then i'd love to have them.

On our recent Radiance of the Seas cruise we got to keep all the towel animals throughout the week. Just lined them up on the sofa.
It's just one of the fun things we appreciate on our cruise.

I like them. If he/she wants to stop making them, so be it, but they should expect slightly less money from me.

I too looooove the towel animals and would be sad if they stopped making them.
The funniest we had was a frog sitting on the toilet reading the cruise compass with a note in it's mouth saying : I was here first. I don't mind the steward using my stuff for the animals as they use what is available WITHOUT going through your stuff. Come on people do you really think they have time to waste doing that. In my case they have always used what was lying about (caps, sunglasses, the next day cruise compass etc..) And NO I do not leave a lot of stuff lying about, we keep our cabin tidy but there is always something that they can use.

We both love the towel animals! It is a highlight of our evening to go back and see what the room attendant left us that night! Good idea about tipping at the beginning and tell them how much you love them - I will do that on our upcoming Freedom cruise!

Making towel animals somehow does not seem like a hardship. I bet they can whip them in seconds with their eyes closed. I for one enjoy opening the door and finding them.

I’ve seen threads where people talk about how overworked the cabin stewards are…. 15 hour days, too many cabins to clean…..
So how does the overworked cabin steward find the time to make towel animals? Seems like giving the steward the ok to not make any towel animals for our cabin is an easy way to lighten the workload. |

Then I guess you you can make your bed and keep the same towels all week. Party poopers.

I love 'em.
Three cruises but only got them on EOS. It's just my hubby and me cruising, no kids, but I don't care!! Coming back to our room each evening and seeing them had me squealing. We did MTD so tips were pre-paid. My DH is also a neat freak so their wasn't much cleaing to do in our room. We also never requested anything. So our daily towel animals got her our WOW card, and a large extra tip. I would never, ever tell our cabin steward not to make them.. OMG NOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Why not just use them (except for the toilet ones)?

I have learned from other cabin stewards how to make about six of them, and leave one on the bed the last night at dinner with my tip envelope on it.

Slightly off-track, but since we're talking about helping our cabin stewards.....
On a recent cruise, our cabin steward mentioned that we were his only passengers who used the Do Not Disturb/Make Up Room card on our door. It helps him know when he can clean, and it saves us the embarrassment of having him walk in on us. Secondly, I realized at the end of the cruise that I should have asked him to just lock our stocked refrigerator/bar, as we were not going to use anything. I'm sure he had to count all the cans and bottles every day. |
