Red Stripe Beach Falmouth

Jan 13, 2013 we cruised on Celebrity and Falmouth, Jamaica was one of the ports of call. In the very nice, new port shopping area there were individuals selling trips to Red Stripe Beach and they said that we could charge it directly to our Celebrity sea pass card. The price of $24 per person was a bit high for transportation only but we felt that since Celebrity was endorsing this by allowing it to be charged to our sea pass then it must be a very nice beach. What a disappointment....... it was about a 15 minute ride and when we arrived at the entrance with a locked gate and barbed wire and the gate opened to a dirt road into the woods it was not inviting and a bit concerning. It was approximately 10a and they were already out of chairs to rent at $5 a chair. The ladies selling at the port said that there was shade available but they neglected to explain that you would have to sit in the underbrush with the litter to get some shade. The toilets and showers stopped working and the place was really a dump.

Anyone done the Red Stripe Beach Falmouth excursion?

We just got back from a cruise (3/30/13) with an excursion to Red Stripe Beach. It was our favorite excursion! Yes, you will have to pay $5 each for a chair, but the beach was by FAR the nicest of the 3 we went to, including Grand Cayman & Cozumel. The beach was immaculately groomed (best we went to) and the staff were super nice and eager to please. It wasn't crowded in the least. The bathrooms and changing rooms are newly built and very clean. I would especially recommend it for adults as, while children are welcome, it is not a big hangout with lots of kids. It was our favorite excursion if you want a true Caribbean beach experience, without the crowds.

And yes, this excursion is new - and staff are very eager to please. We have wonderful photos from this excursion, but am new to this and don't know how to add them.

How long of ride was it to the beach? Can you just grab and cab and go to the beach and rent chairs once you are there?

I answered your question in the other two threads that you posted it.

We were there in Nov. 2014 on a RCCL excursion. It was about a 10 min. bus ride from the pier. We really enjoyed our day. The beach was very clean, had a lifeguard, no venders, food & drink @ a reasonable price, shade, chairs @ $5 each, very clean bathrooms and safe (locked gate entry). It was small, but not took small.

We were thinking of just shopping in Falmouth and getting back on the ship. We walked around there a year or so ago and it was pretty rough.

However, recently saw Red Stripe Beach and perhaps may consider this.

Can we take a taxi there from port? Time? Cost? or must be book ship's excursion?

Thanks
