Default Reflection - obstructed view balconies

Considering booking a cruise on the Reflection for February. Have seen on line that some of the balcony cabins have obstructed and partially obstructed views. Wondering if anyone has been in one of these and how obstructed they are. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

This is one of the Celebrity ships design flaws.
I would recommend balcony cabins located on the "humps" (the front and the middle ones, deck 9 and higher) or on decks 10 - 12 to avoid this unpleasant situation.

In this picture you see a man standing on deck 10.

Views from the balconies (deck 8):

The deck where the lifeboats are located is Deck 5 so it would make where the man is standing as being on Deck 8, not 10.

My slip on numbers, thank you.

I think it depends on your preference and budget.
We have a partially obstructed view balcony cabin booked on the Reflection for the Spring and I am hoping for the best. We originally booked a balcony guarantee, but were given the partially obstructed. It was a great price and less expensive than an outside. I keep checking prices, but thus far, balcony cabins are much more than we are paying. I think it depends on your budget, but for us, we are OK with it.

The 2D"s have the lifeboat tops about railing high and the tops are at floor level on the 2C"s. both have views forward, aft and straight out but just not down to the water. I think they are very good value as they are usually priced accordingly

I booked a 2C category on Deck 6 (Continental) on my upcoming Silhouette cruise next Sunday. It was listed as a 30% obstruction but in fact my balcony has no obstruction whatsoever. It is the very last cabin in the aft section of the ship. I did some research prior to booking this cabin and even after paying the single supplement the price was too good to pass up. Spending some time researching cabins has many advantages.

We had a 2C aft balcony (Cabin 6301) on Reflection and were surprised at the obstruction since it's not designated as having an obstructed view. The obstruction was an overhang/decking that jetted out from Deck 6 about 12-15 feet from the edge of our balcony. You can't see straight down to the water, if that's important to you, but you can easily look out. Here is a pic so you can see it.

Thank you for the the photos. We are booked on Refection Deck 6 (30 Aug 13) so we now know what to expect! I have been 'sweating' about the level of 'obstruction' and even contacted the TA to enquire about changing. However owing to the reasonably expensive cost to upgrade we are staying put. You have made me relaxed and reasonably happy.

I have been studying the reflection deck plan because so many cabins show obstructed view.. I am really shocked that a brand new ship design is like this..

Default 6251

Could you tell me if 6251 was a 2d(obstructed) or a 2c (Partially obstructed)?

We have 6263 on the Reflection and it is supposed to be partially obstructed.

Whether you like a 2C cabin depends on your preference. I've stayed in them several times. The deck 6 aft location is really convenient - one or two decks down to bars, restaurants, casino. A quick elevator ride up directly to the entrance of the buffet and pools. The obstruction is the lifeboats on Deck 5. The tops of the lifeboats are level with the floor of the balcony so your view down of the water is obstructed. The view out straight is usually fine except for an occasional piece of the equipment supporting the lifeboats but that only blocks a small part of the view. I think the location and the reduced cost are the big pluses for these cabins and they are worth consideration. A few of them are "on the hump" and have larger balconies. It's also kind of interesting to see how the lifeboats work and how they look inside as you can easily watch when they take them down for use in drills, etc.

We have two balconies in the center of the hump on deck six. Photos of the ship don't appear to show any obstructions, but does anybody know if that's really true?

It is on X's website, as copied below, that all the 2C cabins has a partially obstructed balcony.
Note: 2C Veranda Staterooms have partially obstructed veranda views, and 2D Veranda Staterooms have obstructed veranda views.

For that cabin it wasn't a lifeboat but roof of the Blu's dining room as you mentioned.

I know there isn't any obstructions for center hump balconies on Silhouette, shot below of port side hump, and the older Solstice class ships.

We are in 8128 (its located mid-ship) for a Med cruise on the Reflection in October which I just booked a couple days ago.

Am I high enough to avoid the view of the life boats? Also, I noticed on the chart that it had a triangle designation. That means one upper berth. Does that mean we will be in bunk beds? Or is just one of those pop down from the ceiling bunk beds that you don't see unless you use it? When I sailed on the Solstice last October, we had a very nice room with a couch and a queen size bed. Its just my wife and I.

Thanks, Banjo

Default Reflecion - obstructed views

I, too, am "concerned" as we are in cabin 6210 and that is considered an "angled" hump balcony. I have been offered a complimentary upgrade from 2D to 1B but that would be on deck 9 and we have always had lower decks. This is our first balcony and I don't know if we should move. Any advice will be appreciated.
