Default New Year's Cruise

We're going on the NCL Dawn for New Year's. First time on the Dawn and first New Year's cruise.

What is your favorite new year's cruise fun? Did you decorate your room or door?

We will be cruising over New Year's for the third time this year and I'm just hoping to make it til midnight! The first time I without thinking mixed sea sickness meds with wine and my hubby poured me in bed by 11:30 and last year AGAIN in my stateroom by about 11pm - praying to die with noro. This year I'm pregnant, so no wine, but I'm hoping to be awake and feeling healthy! Lol!!

Congratulations on the upcoming baby.

We cheat -- we have early dining time -- then go back to the cabin, set the alaram clock and get a couple of hours sleep.

Our cruise last year left on New Year's Day. Plenty of football on the big screen on the lido deck. What made it memorable was celebrating New Year's Eve in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. We (DH, 3 kids and their significant others) went to a nice restaurant (very reasonable for New Year's Eve) for dinner and then celebrated the new year from our balcony room. The fireworks went on for a full hour -- we could see them for miles. It was a memorable night for sure.

Default New Years Eve cruises

To respond to those asking about NYE cruises; this will be our fifth-obviously we love them.
They are all different depending on the ship, the crew and captain and the cruise line.
A favorite was RCCL Majesty where due to weather in the Bahamas the captain brought the ship within view of the south Florida fireworks in so many towns. He was right there with the passengers and it was great!
Radiance was wonderful with a BIG baloon drop in the Centrum. Love that ship!
Another on X was filled with so many kids actually drinking when they thought no one was watching and parents not in sight; it rained.
We also have sailed on Dawn and had an incredible night on the top of the pool area looking down. We are doing that again this year
Common happenings are celebrations all over the ship; a special meal in the MDR; noise makers, horns and a sense of celebration among crew and passengers; many passengers dress for the night.
Every ship had an ice carving of the old year that goes in the pool; the new year ice carving is then presented.
The ships are still decorated or Christmas so it is always festive.
Food is also served at midnight along with champagne toasts.
We love NYE sailings so if you have questions and I can answer, let me know.

I'm going to go on my first X-mas and New Years cruise this year. But friends of mine told me about the Party on board of AIDA. There is always a special buffet and a big poolparty. At 12 there are fireworks at sea.

Here is a Youtube video about the party and the fireworks. NewYears seems to be different like on other ships.
