vision of the seas

Recommended Posts

We have sailed the Vision 4 times and realy enjoy her. We like the layout, easy to find you way around, beautiful art in the stairwells. All of the public areas are very beautiful, especially the Dinning room and the theater. Food is excellent. Only thing missing is an alternative resturant and a snack place open 24 hours a day. Those adds would be great. (The Voyager class ships spoil you in that regard.) Maybe those will be added when they finally stretch the Vision like the Enchantment is going through. There are many reviews of this ship on these boards, just do a search for "Vision of the Seas"

on Mexican Riviera cruise and it's a nice ship. Our first cruise was on Voyager which was much bigger and had additional restaurants but overall Vision was fine. The Solarium pool (adults only) is nice in that it has a retractable glass roof that they open/close depending on weather. On our 2 at sea days returning to LA it was VERY windy on deck and one day was chilly yet the Solarium pool had no wind and comfortable temps since they kept the roof closed but you could still get sun since it was a full glass roof. They do have a hamburger/hot dog/pizza grill onboard that's open until 2am and the burgers are actually really good - bbq grill style - for a quick bite or after the dining room or winjammer are closed. Casino was fine overall but they didnt have enough tables (only 2 blackjack tables so they were pretty full most of the time). The midnight Gala buffet was amazing, not so much for the food but for the decorations - all the sculptures are made out of chocolate or fruit carvings, very impressive.

We took the Mexican Riviera cruise on the Vision this past March and were very impressed with the cleanliness and excellent service on this ship. The previous cruise to this one was on the AOS (Feb '04) and we were concerned that we would be disappointed in the size/age of the Vision. Neither was a problem for us. The Voyager class ships are great (everyone should experience this at least once) but the Vision had all of the amenities that we really cared about with less lines (especially true in the Windjammer). We would not hesitate to sail on the Vision again.

You are taking an Alaskan Cruise. In July you will need a wind breaker when you are cruising near the Glaciers or plan to do an excurions on one of the Glaciers. Overall, Alaska in July is pretty warm, some nights can get cool, but that makes it nice. Light jackets or sweaters should do just fine.

I did Vision to Alaska last June. She is a very pretty ship, in excellent condition despite her age.

Food was the only disappointment on my sailing. I did not find it up to par of the normal RCI standards.

If Captain George is aboard, you are in for a huge treat!

Enjoy

A Co-worker Of Mine Just Got Back A Couple Of Days Ago From The Mexico Cruise On Vision. She Says She'll Never Cruise Rcl Again. I Think It's Because The Only Cruise She's Been On Before Was On Princess. So Comparing The Two, She Just Wasn't Impressed. So I Think How Much You Enjoy Your Cruise Really Depends On Your Expectations And What You Have To Compare It To. She Did, However, Rave About The Dolphin Encounter Excursion. And She Said The Staff Was Excellent As Well.

I don't understand the reason that sailing with Princess would cause her not to like Vision. Unless the Princess ship was new and large and that is what is she prefers, and she enjoys Personal Choice Dining.

I did not enjoy my Princess cruise and never went on another. That was a long time ago for certain but I still just never consider the line as an option for my travel. It was stuffy.

Vision was my 43rd cruise with RCI and I have been on much newer and fancier ships with several lines. I think she has a great staff and offers a very good experience.

What we like and dislike is based on a lot of different things. That's why cruisers are so lucky there are so many options!

Honestly I Think She's A Bit Of A Complainer. But Yes Her Princess Cruise Was On A New, Large Ship And In A Much Nicer Room Than She Had On Vision. So I Don't Think It's Fair To Compare The Two. She's Been Telling People To Never Cruise Rcl And How Horrible It Was. Although I Haven't Heard Any Good Reasons From Her Not To. I Guess On Her Last Day There She Found A Bra And A T-shirt In Her Room That Didn't Belong To Her. I Guess They Never Did Find Out Where It Came From...but I'm Not Sure That's Really The Cruise Lines Fault. And Also The Bus Line That Was Supposed To Transport Them From The Airport Was 3 Hours Late, Again I Don't See What That Really Has To Do With The Cruise Line. I Think You Just Can't Make Some People Happy.

I was on the Vision in Dec. 2004. This was my 2nd time on this ship, the first time being when she was brand new in 1998.

I can say the ship was very clean, the staff great and the food was very good to excellent during the entire week.

I posted reviews of both sailings under the member review section.

Good to see this thread.........I am sailing the Vision in July, the only other ships I have to compare her to is the Carnival Pride, the Carnival Valor and the Sitmar Fairsea- which I really don't remember much of anyway!

Mike,

Where did you hear that Vision was being stretched? I think I heard that somewhere else also but when I called RCCL for info they advised that the Vision is not slated for stretching. Any more info on this? I'd love to know because I'm planning on sailing the Vision next June to Alaska out of Seattle.

Did not hear anything concrete, just thought if the Enchantment goes well, RCI will probably stretch all of the Vision class ships instead of building new ones.
