I emailed the IR Department at NCL about the possibility of a future shareholder benefit
The Return Response:

Thank you for your email and for your interest in Norwegian Cruise Line.

Currently we do not have a shareholder benefit program in place, but we are considering our options.

Thanks again and have a wonderful day!

Only 12% of NCL stock was made available to the public. The remaining 88% is still in the hands of Genting Hong Kong, Apollo Global Management and TPG Capital.

With the relatively small number of shares that are publicly traded, and with much of that probably being held by institutions rather than individuals, perhaps offering stockholder benefits for NCL cruises isn't a very important way to bolster bookings.

I rushed out and purchased it for the perks. I made my reservation with my TA and she used a New York state resident discount. I also received a rejection for my OBC. The only way to get my $100.00 credit wad to pay $40.00, which I did and now I have $60.00 OBC.
I bought RCCL stock years ago when I cruised with Celebrity and made the money back several times over.
And to add insult to injury, my cruise has price has dropped $300.00. I have a Handicapped room and the only upgrade available would be to a balcony, which I would have to pay much more money for, if one was available.

Got my $100 OBC on my Sept cruise without a problem, and it combined with my TA's OBC. So happy as a clam. I book insides and oceansview where the NCL OBC is usually slim to none and always <$100 so the restriction on combining offers doesn't come into play. It's a new stock and new program for NCL so I do hope they clarify their policy and loosen the restrictions though. Do have a cruise next year where the shareholder credit probably won't apply.

I don't get it. NCL said to call my TA which I did, and he said call NCL and see what kind of discount I can use it with. Too much of a hassle for me. I'm gonna dump the stock.

It seems like NCL stock holders credit can't be combined with anything??

How does a potential $100 OBC compete with some of the offers NCL offers...like the "Norwegians Pick Their Perks?" promotion?

The three dinners more than covers the $100 in OBC and it includes wine, strawberries, Spa credit etc. I was really tempted to buy stock, but can't figure out the value at this point.

I agree and I put the above sentiments in an email to NCL.
They are better off not offering the stock OBC , its a joke and people know it.
At the very least they should say , Not combinable with any NCL obc promo offer.
But its to broad in its wording which makes it worthless .

I agree 100% with both of you. The other two cruise stocks are absolutely awesome and should be complimented for the way they handle their shareholders. They have never questioned the OBC no matter what fare I got.

If you hear anything from NCL I'd be happy knowing. As far as I can see I agree that it is useless. No one pays full price for cruising anymore, and because of their worthless wording, the "shareholders benefit" is, well, nothing.

Thanks for the feedback. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who feels this way. If others knew it they'd be dumping their stuff too. We're even going to sell at a loss, but at this point I don't really care. It's not doing us any good.

How long does it take for NCL to reply?

I sent NCL two emails so far (on July 14th and 23rd). So far I have not received any reply whatsoever.
Normally I would have expected at least some automatic response mail along the lines of "Thank your for your message. We will get back to you asap."

However, I have not heard from them at all. Should I try calling them?
What has been your experience?

Twice I have tried to get the $100 OBC (I own 200 shares) and was denied both times because I book via CAS. I wrote back to them with a list of about 12 promos NCL runs and said that by the time they whittle the list down to shareholders that don't book via a promotion, there might be only a couple of people that actually do get the OBC. I personally think their conditions are ridiculous.

Thanks for the info Tracy!
As I said, so fare they have not yet denied anything. I was just surprised not to hear back from them at all.

I booked through a TA (also with a small OBC, 50 or 100US).

I guess I am still quite a newby - what exactly is CAS?

I'm not sure who you tried to contact at NCL? Normally, for most questions/requests, if you use a TA, you must use the TA for all contact.
Have you tried asking your TA to get the info on your behalf?

The "CATCH" with the NCL stock is, like was previously mentioned, not good with any other discount. Therefore you would have to pay the brochure price, which NO ONE does, to get the OBC. The other two stocks with the other lines don't care what you pay or who you buy from. They have been FANTASTIC about giving us the OBC every time we sail. I think it's their way of thanking their shareholders for having faith in them and their product.

We did dump the stock as we said last year. We don't miss it because we don't sail NCL that often. As a matter of fact, since they wouldn't do the OBC thing like the others do, we haven't sailed with them since.

I'm very glad we invested our money where we did.

What they do if you have received some sort of promo rate and cannot receive the $100 OBC is, they give you a bottle of wine and dinner at Cagneys which is almost worth $100 if you ask me anyways.

they did have one 2 months ago: It isn't great but if you have 100 shares or more of stock you get a $100 OBC. If you are already on a promo that gives you an OBC offered by NCL then they will give you dinner in Cagneys and a bottle of wine. Ifryou think about it: dinner $30 a person plus a bottle of wine: it is about the same as $100 OBC. As for combining the OBC with other discounts, I understand that. It is only not allowed if the promo you are receiving is an NCL promo. If you are getting, we will say, an OBC from your TA you can still get the $100 OBC. I will say, I did fax them my info and had to follow up with a phone call.

you say it isn't doing you any good; did you really buy your 100 or more shares just for NCL perks? That doesn't sound to me like a very good reason to buy stock.

Agree that you should not buy the stock for the OBC--I did--and out of MANY cruises they found a reason not to give it to me every cruise except one.
