Need suggestions

My dh and I are not the types who sit at a beach, we don't drink, nor are we the type that likes to look at the ruins. I love to shop but hubby can only tolerate so much. :rolleyes: Does anyone have any suggestions for us? :confused:

Go into Merida. Walk around, see a small portion of the city, do some shopping, relax a little, enjoy lunch, then head back to the ship.

We took a cab from the cruise dock to Merida for $70.00 total for four of us round trip..Had a nice lunch on the square, and shopped around and saw the sights.

Thanks everyone. I think we will just make an adventure in town. Someone had mentioned a double decker bus and a carriage ride. That sounds fun if I can get DH to go along with it. :)

ksh - If memory serves the Double Decker Bus is in Progresso and the Carriage Rides are in Merida...fwiw...:)

Double decker bus is always fun-sit up top but make sure you duck when you go under those power lines :D

So which would be better Progresso or Merida?

Can you get a cab at the pier before going into Progresso on the bus? Can you get a cab to hire for the day or half a day?

Don't recall if you can get a cab once you have exited the ship. You can however get one where the bus drops you off in Progreso. They are available for rent, I think the cost is around $70-80 for most of the day.

I haven't been yet but from what I have read the double decker tours Progresso but there is a regular bus that can take you to Merida.

There is a city bus that runs between Progreso and Merida. They leave every ten minutes or so and it takes 45 minutes to a hour to get there. You just need to walk up to the bus station once you get to Progreso, pay for the roundtrip and hop on board. The Merida station is a few blocks south from the city center, short walk. FYI, the bus is run by AutoProgreso.
