Default M6 vs B1 (mini suite large balcony vs aft balcony) thoughts?

Am thinking of giving up my aft balcony for a mini suite with large balcony.

There are a ton of M6s available, any reason for that? Being on a lower deck? I can't see anything wrong with them ...

Maybe the lack of privacy? From the upper decks you can see down onto the balcony.

That is assuming that those above really want to look down at you, and I my case I couldn't care less. And in all honesty, you should think of it this way: if they are looking down at you, its a guarantee that those poor saps up in the tiny balcony staterooms will be looking down in in both frustration and envy as you stretch out in the sun on your huuuuge M6 balcony, while they struggle to find away just to sit and extend their legs .

But one other factor should be figured in as well, and that is ship location. With the M6's in particular, you find yourself in what is an absolutely unbeatable location - Deck 8, right down the hall from the middle of the action (restaurants, bars, shopping, casino, and on the same deck as the Waterfront!), yet also at the end of the deck 8 hallway where there will be very minimal foot traffic past your cabin. After doing loads of research before our M6 booking, I came the very undeniable conclusion that this spot cannot be beat. I say go for it!

More than half of the 13 feet depth of the balcony is covered, and completely 'private' . If you want to sunbathe and move out to the end, then yes, you are visible, but no more so than if you were on the sun decks, yet you have the convenience of being only steps away from your own cabin. And ditto everything Joeski states about location. I agree, go for the M6

I'm in a M6 in two weeks?I plan on doing a cabin crawl to check out the different rooms.I will let you know what I think.I think the M6's will be the cabins to get if you can't find any open deck space by the pools with 4k people onboard.Time will tellYou really can't go wrong with either one, your on vacation!

I agree with joeski27 and seabird1122. We had an MA on Deck 14 and after seeing all the pictures of the balconies, we switched our cabin to deck 8 M6. My DH loves sitting there and watching the ocean. Can't wait for our 6/16/13 sailing!

I'm not sure I agree with you. On one cruise our balcony was not totally covered and in the morning we'd come out to a lot of garage, including cigarette butts, on our balcony. Add to that hats, a few t-shirts, etc. The kids enjoyed going out each day to see what items were there but I wasn't amused with the trash. (This was Royal, not Norwegian.)

Free hats and T-Shirts!!! Another plus
They're probably gifts and bribes from other cruisers wanting to use the Large balcony

I was thinking cigarette butts and ashes might be a problem also.Since we are so far forward I don't think that it would be an issue.

My balcony from the Gem 2 years ago had a sofa seating area. (I tried to upload a pic, but upload kept failing ). It looked really nice. I think you should go for it

Take a look at these pictures of aft balcony rooms on deck 12. One is standard, on is HC. Very deep, 3/4 covered, can put a lounge chair out there they are so big! Pull back and be covered, pull out and tan.

How did you get the lounge chairs added? Will they do that on request (or on a really ni$e request)?
