Some of them have apparently, however the main pool and the golf course are still closed.

September? If that's true then Carnival have made a monumental screw up. With what they spent on the re-furbishment, the OBC they are having to give the passengers and the bad publicity it's a PR nightmare.

looks like there are still problems. we are all paid up now, so no choice of going or not. we were so looking forward to trying a new cruise line, but think now we should have stuck with who we know.

People who are on the ship now have posted on face page that the mini golf is now open. As others have said it has been reported that the pool will open tomorrow.

Yes there have been lots of issues, some of them big and some small. Personally I would rather sail with Carnival any day over Thomson's, even with all f these issues. Thomson is not a cruise line, they rent cruise ships. Once you have cruised with an American cruise line you will understand what I mean by this. (I am British by the way).

We are due to sail on the Sunshine in July. I am hoping that everything will be resolved by then. If you can wait a few weeks to book, then I would do that until there have been a few more sailings.

The problem someone mentioned re September relates to the pool. A chap who worked on the ship at Dry Dock speculated that the ship MAY have to return to dry dock before the transatlantic crossing in October, due to the ship listing when water is in the pool, those are his thoughts on the matter as to why there is no water in the pool.

We will be able to tell how things are in the next couple of weeks.

looks like problems should be resolved, soon, or at least by august. we arnt great pool people (but its nice to sit round to cool down) but we do prefer running water to be in the bath not the walls, and a toilet that flushes is a plus.
we had been led to believe we would get on board credit before booking, now carnival have now told me i wont get it. if youve been on carnival before, what are the drink prices like.
never been on a forum before, so thanks for your feed back

It sounds like there IS a list, in spite of vehement denials to the contrary by John Heald. Shocker!!

I'm a Brit cruiser and I don't know what you mean. I've cruised both Thomson and Carnival and after my Sunshine experience I know who I'm more likely to book with again. Thomson have never lied to me or provided me with a cruise I would've happily cut short, tho they did once double book my cabin so we had to have a different one.

I didn't get it at first. I was thinking paper list. Doh

I believe dry dock Dave may have mentioned something about listing also when he was working on it.

I was on the May 5th cruise, the inaugural. There were many, many problems with cabins. The main pool, water park and golf were not available and many people were very upset about it. They chased kids out of the Serenity pool which was the only pool available.

I can understand still wanting to keep Serenity adults only but what are the kids supposed to do? Understandable debate on both sides so don't tell me that Serenity MUST be kept adults only....I get it.

The Sunshine will get sorted out. I'm confident that Carnival desperately wants to keep people happy and avoid any more negative publicity.

The bottom line for us is that we were on an intensive European itinerary which kept us off the ship almost every day for long hours. We were not on the ship very much like we would be in the Caribbean or some other places.

A few of the problems that we personally experienced (and we were traveling with a large group of friends: The water stopped in my cabin while I was in the shower. The next morning the power went off while many of us were in the passageway gathering together to go down to the lounge for an excursion and it was a totaly blackout. We couldn't see anything. It went out for about a minute, came back on for a few seconds and went off again for about a minute. No emergency lights came on.

This really scared some people. Many cabins on our deck has issues with water flooding their cabins (so much that their feet went squish squish in the carpet.....ugh) and had no water for shower, sink or toilet many days into the cruise.

Yes, many issues but there were lots of workers about the ship each day. Some wore Fincantieri overall and were not part of the normal maintenance crew. We realized that Carnival was continuing to spend lots of money trying to solve problems throughout the cruise.

They will get this worked out. The ports were wonderful and the ship was not.
If you are already booked just hope that the ship will be more together than it was for us. It HAS to get better each cruise, right????

If you are on this ship in the near future try to relax. Most things should be resolved before you get on the ship.

Honestly though, we will NEVER book within two months of a drydock again. We thought we would be okay with the third cruise after drydock. Then they cancelled a 12 day and a 9 day ahead of us and made us the inaugural cruise.

It wasn't good.

The ship wasn't ready. This was a monumental screw up on Carnival's part.

Who got fired?

Okay, Carnival cheerleaders who believe that their favorite cruise line can do no wrong...FLAME AWAY.......!

I thought this was pretty balanced with problems and encouragement about Carnival making it better soon. Whaddayathink?

Default Agree

I agree except for your remark re Serenity. I saw and heard children in there and I saw staff walk past and say nothing. Saying that I do have sympathy for parents with no way of keeping kids cool and entertained when there's nothing else for them to do, but Carnival should have made an announcement that under the circumstances children would be allowed that would've meant of course admitting the issue with the main pool was one they couldn't fix and that would never do, would it?

My wife and I were walking through the serenity area on the first sea day, Day 3 of our cruise and security was escorting a very wet 10 year old over to his mom. The security guard explained that the child could not be in that area and would have to leave.

I felt sorry for the child but also realized that adults are expecting the serenity area to be child free.

It's a difficult decision for the cruise line because the main pool and the waterslide area were closed.

Personally, I'm glad the cruise was not cancelled but I talked to so many people on board that disagreed with me.

I will try to get a manager this time. I have rang before with questions about the ship and also why they haven't given me the on board credit I was led to believe I was to get. They dealt with the credit and told me I could get drink deal for 43 dollars a day WHAT!!! And totally ignored my concerns about the ship. But I will ask for a manager this time.

Please let us know how you get on..... we are also travelling from Manchester in August on this cruise. I'm travelling with my friend and our 10 year old sons. They spend soooooo much time in the pool and never really bother with the water slides so the pool is a 'must' for us. We cruise a lot, so i've seen most of the ports and we were hoping to spend a lot of time enjoying the ship.
